Notes: I love this song, and it kind of describes the onset of a particularly ruminative melancholy that seems to be clouding my field of vision at the moment. But this uncharacteristically goofy and upbeat version comes close to making it into something else entirely (and is awesome in its own way)

That's great. Time to dig out my copy of Matewan I think.

Great piece. Good to notice eccentrics, to remember we're all improvising as we go, and that precedents don't have to be determinate. Sorry to hear of your melancholy; hope it clears itself out soon.

"that precedents don't have to be determinate"; wow, @iprefernotto , that's a great way to put it, and something I needed to hear---thanks. Oddly enough, I reenacted this video's scenario last night; met an old friend who I haven't seen in a long time, got a drunken pep-talk for the ages, and may have even busted out a silly walk or two on the way home...

@scoda ... "Matewan" is such a great flick; and Oldham was what, 15 at the time? It should be shown in every American history class. thanks for listening/watching @culturalfatwa --!

@21schizoid ...you know the pub this was film in? that's really cool...it looks like a beautiful city...i've been to Edinburgh for festivals and Skye for my honeymoon, but i can't remember why we stopped short of Glasgow

@vomitsunami All of the areas in the film are known to me, Mikey! Glasgow has many beautiful parts and although it pains me to say it, Edinburgh is for me at any rate, the more aesthetically pleasing. The people in Glasgow though, are generally speaking, friendlier...*prepares for fight* ;-D Skye...well you know, it is truly magical... See ya' in Glasgow on your next tour...I'll be wearing jeans and a Dusty Groove t-shirt... :-D

@21schizoid ... Oh I'm aware of the rivalry...we became familiar with the term "'weegie soap-dodger" in Edinburgh...I think we just enjoyed our time there (twice) so much that we didn't want to leave, despite previous plans to check out Glasgow...we've got a little boy and little money nowadays, so i fear we won't be back anytime soon...our idea of a vacation now is going to Detroit (seriously!)

@vomitsunami You met Edinburghers who had heard of soap?!? Wow... ;-D Ah Mikey, Detroit can't be so bad...after all, One Direction has gigged there...well actually...

@21schizoid . Detroit is great! We can drop the boy off at the grandparents and go to this: http://www.detroitjazzfest.com/2015lineup.html this year's lineup is pretty nuts, and the price is right (free)
