Thanks dude. Steve and his band were on top form, All Genesis from 70-77 night. A total joy for an old prog rocker like me! Kicked off with Watcher of the Skies. As soon as that organ kicked in, it was just like Genesis 74, the first and last time I saw them. Utter magic...
Saw Genesis in 1972/3 at Sheffield city hall doing Selling England by the Pound tour, fantastic,Stil one of my all time favourite albums and hope to se Mr Hackett in October in Sheffield.
Brilliant. you must, must, must, catch that gig. You have my permission to take a life for a ticket!! I've just looked over the tour itinerary and it's a global assault, before back to blighty. I txt my mate this morning and said I'd tweet Sir Steve and ask him to play Glasgow again this evening. I'd be there again tonight if it was possible. Found many parts quite emotional actually, though I fought back the waterworks, sang like it was for my life and repeated the exercise all the way home!!
Yes a classic as well but then so was all of Genesis from 70 to 75. Genesis were still good after Gabriel and Hackett left but never quite the same magic.
Couldn't agree more. The set was chock full of classics and on my drive home, I was mulling over the ones that didn't make it. What a back catalogue to choose from. I can't stress enough, you have to get to that gig. I'm bloody jealous now, thinking about it!!
I remember fondly listening to Lamb Lies Down on Broadway on my headphones in my bedroom as a teenager 'and never tired of it , so I was gutted when Mr Gabriel left soon after. He didn't do too badly after though.Another of my favourite artists and I think he is a genius
@totemarro Again, agreed. They did play Carpet Crawlers (awesome) and Chamber 32. Have never seen Gabriel solo, though I do have one of his vinyl LP releases, sung in German! I was studying the language at the time and thought it would be fun. Last night, Steve said at the end of their encore, " I think we've got one more number left in us." Some bloke at the front shouted, "The whole of The Lamb." Cue laughter from the band...priceless.
@heatherrings Lol. Absolutely allowed. Didn't think for a second that you'd like that. It's just blokey progstuff (well, for the most part. I'm sure some girlies like it a lot). I do however realise you're just getting me back for The Telstars, you nippy little cat!! ;)
