@bignonioides Bloody hell Chris. Plagiarism of the highest order. Have never heard that and thankfully it can't hold a candle to CBB. Great bit of detective work, sir!! :-)
I too smoked my way through Langside. met some totally wonderful slackers there. Time of my Life - and I knew it too. Reality Postponed for another year: job done. <sigh> I like that your song memory from then includes the lyric "Couldn't get it right"
@BeeBee You don't get a choice of fish. A fish supper is a fish supper. Generic fish, generic potatoes for a generic geriatric Italian on a witness protection program from Sicily. He who don;t sleep wid da fishes, cooks da fishes. ;)
@daved Haha. 'Reality postponed'...brilliant, Dave. I did pick up an extra couple of Highers - had a particularly inspired History lecturer- but the fish supper was indeed the highlight. And yeh...I Couldn't Get it Right... ;-)
@21schizoid I almost forgot I got some highers there too - then I remembered that I have forgotten everything to do with those highers as they were high-falutin highers. They served merely as door openers, probably why they called them key subjects ;-)
This band toured the US incessantly after this song hit tbe charts. They came to my hometown 4 times in 8 months . They opened for ZZTop, Santana, Foghat and The Atlanta Rhythm Section. That last one was quite a good pairing.Southern rock ruled the day. Great pick!
I think anyone who jams this has unspeakable talent, good looks and humor and humility........(august 16-17th) May I just be the one to say well done old chap on your superb taste.
@scobo2006 Cheers Scotty lad. I did serve a little time in said hostelry, but mostly post-fitba' at the time I was playing with Croftfoot Amateurs. '84 sounds about right... :-)
with white vinegar,salt,ketchup......hooooh!!..envy. this was very much liked..dont worry bout college failures...all (i say again..ALL) ** i learnt at Art school was how to party..can probably get a degree in it these days..:))
@21schizoid now this one got me dancing! great jam and story!!! I was able to finish journalism school with no recollection whatsoever of what happened on the 2nd yr... (and - for the record - i do have a good memory)
@BladeRunner Thanks Jess. I'm lovin' this 'College - The Forgotten Years' theme I seem to have awakened. Fabulous stuff. I feel a bit like Frasier Crane. Doc Bristow by the couch...I'm listening... ;-)
That Doc, is what we Glitterati loveys like to call a stonker!!!!!
Always thought the sax player should have been in Dr Teeth & The Electric Mayhem, great pair of kecks though!
@21schizoid wow, loved "College - The Forgotten Years" - it's already a prank within the friends from back then, 'cause I don't even remember some of the teachers... And is just on the 2nd year. What was I doing? I have no clue... don't remember! Is this selective amnesia??!! huahuahua!!!
@heatherrings I wholeheartedly agree. However, that wee ditty just wouldn't sound right with tossed salad replaced by 'lightly butter blanched spinach'...taste a darn sight better though... ;-)
@mikelowe Y'see, that's what I'm talkin' 'bout, big Mad Mikesta' All it takes is some terribly erryoodight guy like you to come on and make us all look foolish... Using words like 'stonker'... anyhoo, glad you got your kicks from Doc66 and even threw in some fashion notes. Seriously now, is there simply no beginni...er, end to your brilliance...?!?
@BladeRunner@donuno Thank you Sir Don. What I am getting here, is a total, complete and utter failure to remember anything about those vital Collegiate times...I mean who gives a rats ass 'bout the academics, it's the music I'm talkin' 'bout!! On the plus front, should anyone ever finish a discussion on college times with "at least you're here to tell the tale" you can honestly answer..."what tale?"...
@florencevibert Thank you Miss Florence. I have offered @heatherrings an alternative culinary suggestion, which I believe will be considerably more palatable. I trust you will concur... or agree, whichever comes first... ;-) x
@mikelowe Hang it all, you're right. However, as you are indeed the very glue that holds TIMJ together, it was a worthy error on my part, Your Extreme Mikeyness...
Don't know how I keep missing your jams Mr B!!!! - Any hoo - this is great! I kinda Fecked up my education in my school days - preferring to bunk off and drink cheap cider! Got me a nice shop job at 16 ! Eventually went to Art School at 21 - If I had the many thousands of pounds needed nowadays - I 'd go back too . . .
@lindatee Haha. Never fear madam. Better late than never. That's the thing 'bout the school/college days. No matter how dodgy some of the component parts were, we can always pick out the highlights with relish and even think about givin' them another bash. Life's rich tapestry, Volume 436... :-)
@donuno seems we have similar selective amnesia, hahaha!!! @21schizoid ah, on music... THAT I have better recollection - Nirvana and Pearl Jam were the big thing back then... But to me was the time i really discovered Led Zeppelin and couldn't stop listening to Kashmir...
