21schizoid

Apologies to all those Luvverly Jammers who liked/commented on this, already. Something played tricks with the previous version and I've had to do it all over again...

5 years, 5 months ago

ErnieBilko

@21schizoid Well it's funny you should say that... actually now I thinkabout it, there WERE quite a few of those types of books flying around the garage. I tried to ignore them of course, but every now and then... just to indulge the lads of course :-) PS I've just snook a bit of SAHB on Myrt's site... any excuse :-D

5 years, 5 months ago

ErnieBilko

Haha it makes my comment seem more surreal than ever :-D

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@ErnieBilko Hahaha. Thank you for returning to my FauxPasJam. Bloody tried to edit the title and it removed my yarn. Sassafrassin...All that soft porn viewing...just er, good, clean, healthy fun. I think you should sneak Alex into as many other Jams as you can, to the demise of TIMJ...there's a challenge, Bilks... ;-D

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@ErnieBilko Actually I might do that from now on, just to see if any bugger actually notices...or cares, come to think of it... :-D

5 years, 5 months ago

ErnieBilko

Ha I'll have a go :-D Oh and I never even noticed the title wrongway round thing anyway... some people...puh!

leejohnson

@21schizoid I personally remember the kind of activity you describe in your headline piece. Furtive, hardly-grown, sex-starved behaviours. We had a "specialist" shop in our home town - a grubby (from the outside, and certainly on the inside) ragbag of books and magazines piled up all around. Mild stuff, mostly, and the weirdo proprietor would look you up and down and say "You sixteen?", and we'd say "Yeah! 'Course!" And he let us buy anything on display. And, after a year of so: "You eighteen?"

5 years, 5 months ago

leejohnson

@21schizoid And we would, of course say "Yeah! Too right!" And, lo and behold, the world of "under-the-counter" was suddenly unlocked to us!! You just do not want to know exactly what was under there, but I am truly surprised I and my mates grew up normal! (Actually, some who know us say we didn't anyway!) 'Appy daze.....

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@ErnieBilko @Salvadore very kindly pointed it out and when I decided to Edit...ate ma' story. Weird...

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@leejohnson Hahaha. Brilliant. I do believe I followed a similar path, sir. Fortunately, I too seem to have suffered no ill effects and...'scuse me, Lee...these tights are cuttin' off ma' circulation...

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@leejohnson ...oh and thanks for droppin' by...again!! ;-D

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@daved I am aware of this, sir...oh incidentally, I've got your copy of Jugtasm here for ya'...

5 years, 5 months ago

Cranky

My mates dad never had a shed so he kept a few copies of H&E; and Parade on top of a kitchen cupboard. His wife was extremely portly so she'd never have got up there and found 'em. Great jam by the way....that is what we're here for isn't it?

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@Cranky Ithangu. Personally mate, I'm only here for the smut. Top of kitchen cupboard you say...

5 years, 5 months ago

debutch

Don't you think that "The Seeker of Porn" would have made a VERY funny title for this song? =D

5 years, 5 months ago

paulgdaly

@debutch didn't Pete Townsend get in trouble for just that?

5 years, 5 months ago

debutch

@paulgdaly Oh yeh!!! I didn't think of that!

5 years, 5 months ago

christineb

You not a rebel? I am in utter disbelief.....are you sure you're not "Dave" in this story? That I would find much more likely... Anyway, darling..stupendous jam

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@debutch @paulgdaly Interestingly, Pete left his er, curiosity, to the latter part of an amazing career in rock. I, on the other hand (pun intended) chose 'curiosity' prior to my nonentity path, inferring that soft porn at an earlier age, truly is damaging...though I may need to revisit some er, literature, to lend further wight to my findings...so, if you'll excuse me...

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@christineb Thank 'ee Ms Chrissy. Yes, t's true. I was a choirboy, pre Smith-introduced smuttiness. How I have paid for those fateful days. If only I could claim to be the protagonist in this sorry tale of woe. I am merely the victim. On the plus front, a psychiatrist told me these episodes do clearly explain, why I can never get this damn bend from the front of my trousers, nor the smile off my face...

5 years, 5 months ago

lindatee

I'm not sure if you like my lovely Mr Dury, but your story reminds me of this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hT5iIAe43Y Are you sure you didn't nick them?I'm with @christineb actually, Not a rebel? Yeah , right!!

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@lindatee Hahaha. Thanks, Jeanie. Classic Dury. How we miss the likes of Mr D and Alex Harvey. True entertainers. I maintain my position as a morally upstanding individual...well, upstanding, anyway... ;-D

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@lindatee Great Avi, btw... :-D

5 years, 5 months ago

tomdwilly

@21schizoid Not Pictures of Lily, Mr B? Love The Seeker so no complaints on that front!

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@tomdwilly Hahaha. Brilliant, Tom...never thought of that! I'll stick by my original choice...goes with the year... ;-D

5 years, 5 months ago

kfarrnd

Ah Mr. B, the little explorations of youth that kids today just don't experience. All they have to do is head to Google. We've made it too easy to sneak just a peek. Stories like yours show how we built character, albeit that small illicit side of the less than rebellious (thought I'm not buying that you didn't have a rebel streak running through your veins...). Love The Who and this tune.

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@kfarrnd Hahaha. Thanks, Kev. Helluva toon, ain't it just. Y'know, you're dead right. I didn't think of it as a 'rites of passage' issue, but it is now a push button era and this kinda' activity, just doesn't happen. I prefer my youth...especially when someone else had to go in!! My attempts to deny a 'rebel without a clue' side, are bearing zero fruit, so let's just say I was a late developer... ;-D

5 years, 5 months ago

brianberrington

You know what Pepe, you should collect all your jam musings and put them in a book. Best seller without a doubt. I would buy it for sure. Guess what! Someone has nicked two of my followers, you can't leave anything around this place.

5 years, 5 months ago

MadameZia

God! I went out with a David Smith who hailed from Lancashire... His nickname was 'Smudger' Smith... Enough said...

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@brianberrington Hahaha. Hell's teeth Bri, there's a TIMJ tea leaf...who'da thunk it?!? Why if I ever find them...and thank you for your kind support, ma' friend. I feel certain that you will be simultaneously first and last at the book signing...bugger it, we can always go for a pint or seven... :-D

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@MadameZia This was a Scottish pervert (note: I'm not...a pervert...I do admit to being Scottish, however). These David Smith types...dear Lord, I was lucky to escape with my trousers intact...

@MackWatts Sorry, I don't own a mobile device, so no Nusuki for me...

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@dutchbeeblebrox You don't need a mobile, Jan. I just signed up for it (to see what gives) on my laptop, but an hour ago.

@Phyl :-)

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@daved I'm just 'parked' at the mo, Dave. Quite like the look of it (way better than that Loop nonsense). Just not sure if I can be arsed doin' this all over again. If I do, it's more likely to be there, than 'owt else I've seen. Decisions, decisions...

5 years, 5 months ago

daved

@21schizoid @Sid_Bonkers I had a play, signed up and deleted to see what's what. I reckon it is a working, restylised TIMJ. The social aspect - threads of comments is there, it's calm and not terribly cluttered. Intuitive after TIMJ, just not got the depth and breath of musical styles yet. It would be great if but chatters and genre posters arrived ... event the phoneapp is slick. Impressed out of the box.

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@daved Yep, Dave. I looked for something not to like and frankly, couldn't find it. Again, I'm not sure if I want to play the game again so to speak, but if I do, this I'm pretty certain, will be my destination. I understand everyone jumping to Loop, but it's ridiculously fragmented. Nusiki on the other hand, is very TIMJ like and uncluttered in every way. It probably won't stay that way, as I think they really want to make it a revenue thang, but for the moment, it truly seems viable.

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@daved Oh and it appears I already have a follower...must be my magnetic personality, I've posted bugger all...

5 years, 5 months ago

Phyl

@dutchbeeblebrox Not only might you need a mobile Jan, but I suspect you'd have to convert to Islam for that Nusuki app. :)

5 years, 5 months ago

Phyl

Hmnn... Pepe, you've got a follower already, without posting... Was it @daved who'd had some followers nicked off him? Hmnn....

5 years, 5 months ago

Phyl

I see why you haven't posted anything on Nusiki, they only give you 140 characters to play with, short shrift for you Mr Drabble, methinks. :)

5 years, 5 months ago

daved

@Phyl LOL, there is that character deprivation

5 years, 5 months ago

daved

@21schizoid @Phyl LOL when you sign up by email the founders follow you, you get some followers to get the ball rolling - same at Let's Loop

5 years, 5 months ago

daved

Nusiki works out of the box, there's very little learning curve, for me it feels like carrying on, so when TIMJ pops it's clogs, it's an easy switch. Let's Loop is being massively overhauled to accommodate ex-jammers, it's something to learn, filer this, do that. I canny be ersed frankly, I was going to throw in the towel, but now I am throwing my lot in with Nusiki, just to continue, it won't be the same, but it definitely is better than nowt. It won't last, but it'll be a gentler way to go :)

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@Phyl Actually you get more than that. I think they just use the 140 number, to tie in with a Twitter post. I've tried putting in my usual blurb and it takes the lot. It'll post it on Twitter if you request the link like TIMJ, but uses 140 characters only, at which point you simply go to the post...

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@daved Yep, it looks pretty much like the real deal. I know people leapt to Das Loop, before knowing about Nusiki and that seemed sensible, to keep the contacts up. Pretty sure few, if any, will reverse that process, but other than waiting to see if I really could be bothered doing this over & over, that was why I prevaricated...other than the fact that I don't like the site & all that fannying about, just to do what TIMJ (to be fair to them) did simply. Of course you're right...it won't last..

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@daved ...but accepting that fact, is part of the 'deal' you undertake, with any music sharing site...

5 years, 5 months ago

Phyl

Ere, Pepe. Don't you go breaking that New Seekers site before we've had a go on it! :)

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@Phyl Hahaha. I feel quite sorry for them, if I do decide to give it a whirl. Having said that, they did ask... ;-D

5 years, 5 months ago

Phyl

@daved & Pepe. I'm on Newsqueeky now & it's great! So big thanks to whoever discovered it. I'm betting loads of ex Jammers will move there, once they know. It's definitely the more natural new home for Jammers. Who can say how long it'll last? & why bother guessing anyway? Let's just enjoy it now! Hmnn.. Cue for a song methinks https://youtu.be/2-eclUz-RYI Who is that numpty leaning on the post?

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@Phyl As for all the Followers I was granted, they've all been binned...no-one tells me who to follow...good lord, do they not know who I AM?!?

5 years, 5 months ago

Phyl

That's the spirit mate. You sock it to THE MAN ! :)

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@Phyl It is pretty decent, to be fair. Chicago based. I watched their presentation to an audience, at some show or other. As I said to Dave, they're expecting bucks from the site, so it will change (probably for the worse) but meantime, it has to be a better option than that bloody Loop...

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@Phyl... Oh also, I've spotted the Jam word on more than a few pages, so I think some of our lot are already over there..

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@Phyl *rolls up sleeves...fae Glesga' tattoo on arm...Raging Bull theme in background...

5 years, 5 months ago

Phyl

I had a word with my bro, who's a music producer, about the pro's & con's of setting up a new site. He's outraged that people can 'steal' artists product to share & suggested a sorta music 'book club' site, where we'd all buy the track in question from i-tunes, then discuss it! Lol :) It did make me think how lucky we are to be able to access all this great music for nothing more than our broadband fees! :)

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@Phyl Y'know, I have some sympathies with his view, but the genie is well and truly out the bottle, thanks to the interweb. Having said that, cafes have to shell out to PPL & PRS just to play a CD, after they've already bought it and they're actually making artists music available to a wider public. Whole thing's a mess. But hey, who of us hasn't bought music after hearing a great Jam or two?!? Swings and roundabouts, ma' friend...

5 years, 5 months ago

Phyl

Yeah, it's a mess but I heard a youngster on a radio discussion about it & when they put it to him that it's like someone coming round to your house & stealing your CD, he said no it ain't, coz when you make a copy, the owner still has the original, so it's more like someone nipping in and taping your CD. Not such a big deal then eh? So long as they don't help themselves to your coffee I thought! :)

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@Phyl Haha. And there you have it...the line in the sand...yoof...meh...

5 years, 5 months ago

daved

@Phyl in a nut and shell my friend

5 years, 5 months ago

daved

@21schizoid @Phyl The way I see it is quite different. If a building is built, the architect takes credit, but waht about the client who said hmmm, yeah, okish, tweak this and that? What of the contractor who swapped this with that, fixed this dropped that? In the end, everyone claims ownership - from the carpet guy to the heating guy to the painters and decorators. Who is right? Music is not architecture, not painting, not fixed. It is a performance...

5 years, 5 months ago

daved

... the recording is what makes us think it is a fixed thing, a product to be traded - that is a fallacy. It is like a photo of the Taj Mahal or Mona Lisa. Music is live, living, so tour, go concert, everything else is an advert a facsimile, a will'o the wisp.

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

@daved Actually, I wouldn't disagree with a word of that. I guess when someone sees their earnings capacity compromised in an ever changing world, they put up more of a fight to preserve the 'old way'. However, that won't be coming back, so the rules of engagement have all changed in this global trading platform. Like it, embrace it, or chuck it...

5 years, 5 months ago

daved

@21schizoid Exactly - except it is the business men not the artists who are fighting. Mostly. If you charge £50 a seat (so you and your date =£100; who goes to a gig alone?), you make money - 12,500 seaters = 625k each gig, 10 gigs is 6 and a quarter million. I can't see the overheads being so high that this is not seriously profitable - and it all goes to the band, not the DRM lawyers, or Japcorp download site.

5 years, 5 months ago

daved

@21schizoid This is why folk (like Prince for instance) dislike recording the gig and posting on youtube. This is also why you never get DRM denials when the youtube video is live. I have a lot of sympathy for that viewpoint - a live gig is an experience - why detach yourself so as to film it on a shit phone? Bizarre.

5 years, 5 months ago

21schizoid

Aye Dave, businessmen spoiling a party...shurely shome mishtake. I have a cassette recording (bootleg, of course) of an old Teardrop Explodes gig at Tiffany's. Thing is, if you really wanted to 'sound only' record gigs then, you didn't miss the action. Standing at a gig, watching whilst recording, on a phone...fanny...

5 years, 5 months ago

Phyl

@daved As Pepe said earlier, it's all quite a mess now. Your analogy of the photos is good & I add, that if you have a business based on selling said photos, then you're gonna try to maintain your monopoly, thru courts & copyright laws etc. Feels like a King Canute thing to me tho. :) Further, in terms of depriving someone of a potential sale. I wonder how many Jammers have used this resource as their 'record collection' ? I don't. It's become more of a social site for me. :)

5 years, 5 months ago

KerryEJordan

YES.
