...talk to Gordon’s wee dog, Tufty, then fall asleep. I’d attempt a casual blunder home in the wee hours, trying unsuccessfully, not to sing this utter gem, a tad too loud. Great, carefree, if a smidgen hazy, days...how I miss ‘em...
I just had a scary vision of you circa 1980 in some seedy nightclub off Sauchiehall St....white suit, cuban heels, mirror ball reflecting off your Foster Grants trying to pull some young hottie...and you nearly did, until she noticed, that wasn't a Paisley pattern shirt you were wearing but chicken chow mein.
That would be 'Jump To The Beat" I reckon… i was a proper original punk but also realised in about 1978 that tagging along to assist my chum on his mobile disco was a far more reliable way to meet… wait! women! Such hypocrisy! Such fun!
I was reading this eagerly, awaiting a wise old sage's profound lesson of life to be drawn to a conclusion for all to learn life's bitter-sweet lessons & all we get is drunks slumped in chairs, no chicks & covered in brown stains.....bah!! what a let down!! ;-D
I used to go to the skating rink, disco ball , lights down low.. and the likes of George Benson, Chic, Bee Gee's, Shalamar and more.. here is a guide from Wiki incase you want to take up roller skating :) http://www.wikihow.com/Roller-Skate
@debutch DC, wise and profound are two words seldom found anywhere near my page and certainly never in the same post!
Y'know, I had edged away from old TIMJ because I'm still not sure how I want to play it all, post closure. I posted this, as I'd already written the blurb, weeks ago and thought what the hey, it's there, use it. there's maybe a couple more in there, yet...old times sake & all that.
Loop is a no-no. Easy decision.
Nusiki is easy. The founders have (like Loop) tried hard and...
@debutch ...well done to them. It still seems small and clumsier than here, though. A lot of stuff packed into a small space. But most of all, it's easy and that I need, if I'm doing this at all. Posted one track. Picked up an inordinately (for me) large number of Followers, not all of whom have been reciprocated...some of the toons these folks that Follow me listen to, makes me wonder what the hell they're earwiggin' me for!! Follower Gatherers...anyhoo, I'll stay backstage...
@debutch ...and play it like I feel appropriate. Just didn't imagine ever havin' to make these decisions. TIMJ is/was so right. Never even blinked at another platform. Progress?!? Shove it, springs to mind...
@christineb Hahaha. See me as a roller skater do you, Chrissy? Not on those Friday nights, I'd wager. Love Georgey boy...always brings a huge grin to my face...my past is littered with naughtiness...fortunately, I'm not the guilty type... ;-D
Great track - takes me back to those days too. Love the backing vocals - seems to help give it that 'night time in the city' sort of feel. And as for chips and curry sauce... that was something I seemed to have a lot back then too! :-D
@alan_edmonds Ah Al, if only Cillit Bang had been invented then, all my white stuff would look less like I'd vomited on it!! ;-D
Totally agree on those backing vocals...just wonderful...
I competely agree with your comment on my last jam. I would have let it stay longer, but I felt that world events, in particular round the Mediterranean, were more important. And what better place to post this musical outcry than on my social media.
Quality yarn, PB. I remember dating a young lady many moons ago, and in her record collection was a George Benson album. Nothing really out the ordinary (although we went to see The Cult, Siouxsie ATB and more together) but the record cover was George on roller skates, playing a guitar. Top Man is old GB...
@cbinseoul Cheers, Craigy. Totally a class act, old Geo. Moozik's amazing it, ain't it? "Yeh, I'm a big George Benson fan. Not seen him live yet, but I'm seein' The Cult next week!!" Brilliant stuff... :-D
@cbinseoul Haha. Communication misfire! Was playin' out your old burdz conversation,'bout bein' a Geo fan, yet poppin' off to see The Cult! In fact I did see those Cult types, supporting Simple Minds at Ibrox, back in 1986. Now I'm sure I've got that t-shirt somewheres... ;-D
Haha...Those pesky quotation marks..that's why they were there...doh! Nae bother. I was at that Simple Minds gig too. In Tua Nua were on the bill as well as The Cult?
Yeh, it's looking more & more like all my favourite jammers will be split between 2 camps. It's like the bloody Berlin Wall !! Seriously, it' s all such a shame. I'm thinking of when a brilliant thread is going on on LL or maybe a great prog tune is posted & I'm thinking oh!..what would Pepe make of this?....or vice versa with Nusiki...
I'm still believing a "hero" will appear at the very last second to take over TIJMJ AND eliminate all the restrictions too....fat chance,eh? ...:-(
Are there no programers about who could start up a little site for us out there I have no idea how these things work I know when I was having my website built there was an option to have a chat room so how hard can it be?
@debutch@psyclopstrees Grouped us all in on this, as I believe we're (trying to) address the same issue. Ok, I didn't like Loop from minute uno (worst kept secret). However, until Jamsiki came along, the only 'community' fragmentation I envisaged, was Jammers like myself, not looping and effectively, retiring. However, the minute I found Jamsiki and tried it, I knew exactly what would happen...and it has. In short DC, you're right. I guess most of us don't have the time (or in my case, desire)
@debutch@psyclopstrees ...to do both, so the worst case scenario is upon us. I don't have the savvy to fathom out an alternative. What I do know from watching a Nusiki intro video, is that they expect this thing to make money and therein lies the problem. I guess even if a program could be established, it would need someone's unpaid time to handle and no-one's gonna' do that. I believe therefore, we're stuffed and how sad that our Jamsters have to be split up in this way...
@21schizoid I'm ALWAYS up for a bit o George. What a treat. Pulled into my drive in my beaten up bogie green coloured (yes that's the colour on the log book) Peugeot 106 whilst blasting this tune out, got out of my beloved, what I call, crate and heard the bin men on the street singing it. It's infectious!
@ulittletwit Hahaha. Well Jules, sounds like you've got The Bensonettes all sorted, then. Point proven...if ya' can't feel the lurve, lisnen' to Geo, yer life's goin' nowhere...even in a snot coloured vehicle...go girly... ;-D
@21schizoid ooops, I told you a little story about me driving onto my drive in my bogie green coloured car while blasting this tune out, and me hearing the bin men on the street singing it and it being infectious but it looks like I '@' the wrong person! What a dork
@ulittletwit Ok Jules, I'm real easily confused, so I'm sticking with the original version!! Whatever, you're very sweet. If I embark on that book, I will personally autograph your copy...well, I'll have to do something, you'll be the only one in the queue... ;-D

At the moment, I'm on TIMJ, NUS AND LL & it's taking up way too much of my time.Well in 2 weeks, I'll only be on two but even that is too much really. The idea is to let LL & NUS scrap it out for my affections the most after some weeks & I'll choose to stay with the winner only. I AM very sad at the thought of eventually losing a fair number of my favourite jammers....ah..(sigh)...shit happens, I suppose.....
@heatherrings Thank ya' missy. Nice memories...we like those!
I am not and will never be, a Loopist. Jamsiki is (IMHO) the best we've got...though NEVER TIMJ at the peak of its' powers, in a month of...
@21schizoid - Hey you old curmudgeon, before you roll that large boulder across the entrance to your cave have a quick look at 'God's Jukebox'. It's the nearest thing I've seen to TIMJ. Quick & simple to use (a bit like me...so the wife says).
@21schizoid Have got at lot of very nice memories of TIMJ. A good many of those relating to some very silly conversations with you. Thanks for all the laughs and giggles. :-D xx big hug (Oh - there have been some rather good tunes too.)
@Cranky Thank ya' sir. Almost anything is better than that Loop tragedy. I see a further crumbling in our community, young man. The Jukey does look pretty neat and I see folks over there, too. Some like me, that are already on Jamsiki (albeit, on an extremely part-time basis). Now from scramble to uberchoice...it's all gonna' end in tears ma' friend...
Oi, Pepe. Give GJB a go mate. Here's a link to the FB group https://www.facebook.com/groups/811944658922848/?notif_t=group_r2j_approved you can join to help refine & finesse the site to suit our needs & wants. Ollie & co are working really hard on this site & the improvements they've made in a very short time is amazing! I reported a bug on day one & they'd fixed it & reported back to me inside 15mins! :) Oh yeah, nice toon & excellent drabble sir. :)
Please tell me you can post a picture of you in your Disco duds! I imagine you something like this http://www.dressthatman.net/pics/discoman3.jpg & I'm afraid that unless you can provide evidence to the contrary, that's gonna be the image in my mind's eye mate. :)
@Phyl Thank 'ee sir. I shall investigate...
I couldn't possibly top that image, nor would I want to. I'm pleased to leave you with that image of a suave, Pictish, snake-hipped sophisticate... ;-D
Oh, if it helps anyone in the decision making process, my latest communique from Siki, tells me about the Featured User of the Week. He's 16, his first gig was Miley Cyrus, his ultra fave is The Weeknd (me, neither) would love to meet Michael Jackson (could be arranged) and lurves popcorn (awww). Whilst I'm off to vomit profusely down the toilet, please someone set up a fucking adult TIMJ and if it happens to be God's Jukey, so be it. This, from an adult with a Pepe Le Pew avatar...
...and in other news, a Nusiki-ist follows me. As I do, I decide to check on his/her musical tastes, before I consider reciprocating. His/her profile is private, so I have to lodge a Follow request. WTF?!? Will I? Nope! Are these people idiots? Yep! Do I wish I could time travel & replay my TIMJ time, over and over? Yep! Aaaaarggghhhh...
@Phyl Yeh, I'm already on it. I'm on FIVE now & I feel like my brain ( AND my notification inbox) is about to explode! ...I must admit...it looks kind of cosy & familiar, so it's one to consider but I've decided that only ONE site will seduce me enough to make me a member for good. I hope to decide over the next couple of weeks......you're doing a good job making people aware though! ( have you paid @21schizoid his rates for advertising?..it's a bit more than for a sandwich board! =D)
Pepe, the cheque's in the post mate. As I don't know your address, I just stuck a copy of that disco photo on the front. I'm fairly sure it'll reach ya. :)
@debutch You have my sympathies mate. I'm on four & I can't quite keep up! Totally agree about it coming down to one in the end. GJB has it for me at present, tho it needs some refinement. Ollie & co are doing such good work tho, that I'm confident it'll be pretty damn good by TimJ's demise date & as far as I know, it's the only one set up for us. :)
@heatherrings Yeah, sorry Heather, couldn't be sure of me memory at the time. Trouble is, I've got a memory like a ... wassaname, you know, it's made of mesh, dome shaped, you strain your rice in it... :)
@Phyl The postie knows what I look like... ;-D
Yep, that wee Siki incident, sums these platform alternatives up for me. They don't want me. I'm not the long term viable future of a generally contemporary moozik only posting site. Old guy likes a reminiscence and a chat...yeeuggh. Totally understand that. The Jukey sprints to the front for me, pending 'God's Jumping Jiver of the Week' email, at which point...
Until I get together The Crusty Curmudgeon, I suspect Jukey wins...

21schizoid
@debutch I've never been the same since they changed my meds, DC...
21schizoid
@debutch @Phyl ...oh and my advertising rates are fiercely competitive...well, fierce anyway...
Phyl
Pepe, the cheque's in the post mate. As I don't know your address, I just stuck a copy of that disco photo on the front. I'm fairly sure it'll reach ya. :)
Phyl
@debutch You have my sympathies mate. I'm on four & I can't quite keep up! Totally agree about it coming down to one in the end. GJB has it for me at present, tho it needs some refinement. Ollie & co are doing such good work tho, that I'm confident it'll be pretty damn good by TimJ's demise date & as far as I know, it's the only one set up for us. :)
Phyl
Love your rant about Nusiki, Pepe! I'm SO with you there. I have a suspicion that it's not aimed at us mate. :)
Phyl
@heatherrings Yeah, sorry Heather, couldn't be sure of me memory at the time. Trouble is, I've got a memory like a ... wassaname, you know, it's made of mesh, dome shaped, you strain your rice in it... :)

@Phyl Yeh, at the moment, "God" is just a nose in front for me...

@Phyl The postie knows what I look like... ;-D Yep, that wee Siki incident, sums these platform alternatives up for me.
