...and remember with misty-eyed fondness, a time (IMHO) when music really was magnificent. As such, anyone who chooses to Follow me (should I become an irregular fixture on this fine platform) must have the patience of a Saint, be prepared to indulge a rambling, ageing lothario (35+ and the lothario bit just makes me sound more interesting...did I say I was prone to exaggeration) and generally enjoy rock, prog, psych, some older pop and occasional ambient. Outside of those spheres...

I’m a complete waste of your time, so invest in someone with a future’… So in conclusion, I’ve Looped. Won’t again. I’ve Nusikid. It’s better, but it still bugs me. So, I’ve turned to God...no, no, no...God’s Jukebox, or The Jukey as I’ve decided to call it. Seems to work for me. Quite a few old chums there. No bespotted yoofs, lovin’ music I despise (did I just say music?). Sadly, but inevitably, we have become fragmented, people. The very thang we didn’t want to happen. But hell, it’s there...

Very poignant lyrics Mr Bristow - and a splendid sound to match.

@21schizoid Well, I've joined The Jukey but guess what? I can't work the bloody thing ha. Surprise. I'll keep going though because I, like you, cannot get on with that Loopy tunes thing but I am getting to grips with that Nusiki thing. Who knows where I'll end up, on some scrap heap for totally inept ex jammers. I don't have a list of music I particularly like because I like what I like with no rhyme or reason so like being enlightened to new stuff. Wasting time is my hobby Peps

Blimey, you can ramble on a bit......and I wouldn't miss it for the world ;-) Been listening to a lot of 'Ash lately m'self, mostly 'Live Dates'. By the time 'Front Page News' was released I was in the middle of a Punk meltdown so this is the first time I've heard this and it's very good. Just what I need whilst I'm dropping me teeth into a glass of 'Steradent' & brushing dog hairs off me slippers.

21schizoid

@ulittletwit Ah Jules, wherever ya' go, it'll be a better place for it. I like you. You're quite mad. In a nice way! Nusiki is probably the best option in terms of the breadth of material you can post, but The Jukey is where the party's at I believe and elderly chappies like me, can blether away, being ignored and pitied, by sniggering fellow Lovers of God. I wish you hours of random musical frolics, wherever you see fit, missy... :-D

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@Cranky Hahaha. Yes, I've been known to finish a sentence or two. The original Live Dates is one of my favourite albums ever. Splendid versions of Ash greats, from the top to the bottom. Ironically, I too had moved on a tad from rock at this point, so I never actually purchased FPN. I did however, invest in the 7" single of Goodbye Baby & spotting it in the old collection this evening, was reason enough to Jam. Now remember not to pop your teeth back in the dog, come morning time...

I can't say I'm a big Wishbone Ash fan, I don't know their work at all....but I quite enjoyed that...maybe I'm on the turn...

@21schizoid Cut out the "elderly" stuff, eh? I'm even older than you are! (As evidenced by my general failure to jam, loop, post or juke anything recorded much after 1974....)

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@philipnareike Ah Phil, never too late to become a Wishbone Ash aficionado, ma' friend. I might have to set you some homework... ;-D

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@obadiah99 Hahaha...and thank goodness you seldom do, Tone. Actually, it is just possible, nothing good was recorded after 1974...I feel wrath heading my way...;-D

ulittletwit

@21schizoid Well I've just spent a while filling in all the boring bits and then couldn't find any music, got notified I had a new follower (?), realised I was on some other site so god knows what I've signed up for, got on the RIGHT site, went to fill in my profile and saw I already had 10 followers. Ay? There's nothing on my thing and people are following me? I'm having a rest because it's creasing my head. I hope

@21schizoid We're not alone, and I've just noticed the dinky little This Week's Top 5 list on the Jukebox has nothing recorded after 1981 (and one of my own posts hem hem, from 1967!)

leejohnson

Too late for another old "stuck-in-the-Seventies" guy to join in? Very entertaining banter you lot, now isn't it past our bedtimes?? ;)

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@obadiah99 Don't know about God's Army, could be Dad's Army, over there!! Congrats on your Top 5 position, Tone. Maybe we should get a Fluff voice-over to read them out each week...

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@leejohnson Hahaha...never too late, Lee! I blame myself, for posting too late in the day. All this chat and I've still to read the People's Friend...right, where's ma' warm milk...

BladeRunner

mr Pepe, let me state for the record, archives and whatever files there may be left of this - i've never payed much attention to prog. To me it was kind of a bore (maybe because what the prog fans i had around me chose to listen was actually a bore) But i started to like it a lot more since i started listening to your and Butch's jams (i don't think i have other 'heavy'proggers i follow). It was quite a discovery, because it wasn't boring and neverending and i really enjoyed it! Thank you Sir =D

heatherrings

Can't say I remember hearing this before.......but then....my memory isn't what it was. I like the music better than the vocals. See you over on't Jukebox, chuck. :-) x

cbinseoul

Here's to chuntering!

5 years, 4 months ago

christineb

I love it when you chunter. ...It's so endearing... as is your obsession with prog... I shall miss our meaningful meanderings...{{{sigh}}}}

5 years, 4 months ago

debutch

You're right Pepe. You are the only one on TIMJ that enjoys a good ol' long-winded elongated waffle about days gone by on TIMJ....I just can't think of anyone else who does that ......:-)

5 years, 4 months ago

debutch

....love this jam btw. First time I've heard this......now, I MUST find out what that 'star' member ( the 16 year old Miley Cyrus fan) of Siki has up his sleeve for today........:-)

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@BladeRunner Awww, wee Brodie. Thank you. How sweet. Listen kid, there's a lot of trash out there that masquerades as prog. I know, I have some of it on vinyl! It was a convenient label back in the day, for music that was not conventional pop/rock and after all, everything has to have a label! However, on its' day, prog is a truly wonderful thang and myself, DC & other lovers of the genre, have represented it brilliantly, on this special wee forum. As for you missy, I have likewise learned to...

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@BladeRunner ...lurve THE most eclectic range of sounds, ANYONE has posted on Jam. You never fail to surprise and it's been a joy to genuinely witness someone grow into the comments 'game' that has passed backwards and forwards at an alarming rate, on your page!! I don't know how you keep 'diggin' for stuff, just keep doin' it somewheres...or preferably, everywheres...long as I'm there... ;-D xx

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@heatherrings Yep, I know what ya' mean. The lead vocal on this track, was given to Mr Laurie Wisefield, new(ish) to Ash, but not to rock, by any means. The vocals on Ash work, is normally key and one of the reasons I love 'em. However, I forgive them this unwise (see what I did there) choice, as it's a smashing wee toon. Jukey it shall be, madam... :-D x

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@cbinseoul Hahaha. I have awards for my chuntering, Craigy... ;-D

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@christineb Haha. Why thank ya' Chrissy. I sincerely hope our meanderings will continue at some venue. Like you, I feel rather despondent at the demise of TIMJ. However, making the best of it, appears the only sane course of action and at least we all have a chance to hang together, albeit in a less than perfect place...let's Jam On, baby... xx

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@debutch Hahaha. DON'T get me started on the Newsick-One Child of the Week choice. I may change my NewVomit avi, to better reflect my disdain. Perhaps me, wearing a baseball cap back to front, eating popcorn and squeezing a zit or seven...and me...long-winded...how very dare you...in fairness, I picked up this bad habit from another Jammer...who was he...deboots, that's him...know him? Anyway, as I was saying, when I was eight...*chunters on, whilst Nursey changes his soiled tartan rug*...

pauseliveaction

I can't find you on the Jukey, Mr B. But that might be because out of the various options it's the one that seems least user friendly to me. I'm warming to Nusiki, but I'm keeping going on all of them for now to see where everyone settles when the lights go off on here.

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@pauseliveaction Hey SuzySue. Yep, I'm over there, but in disguise...try Devil & Little...but not necessarily in that order!! They do need to work on some issues, but it's highly TIMJ sympathetic, so it should be fixed. Does make you wonder though, doesn't it...since all the alternatives are bending all ways to accomodate Jamsters, why someone doesn't just replicate TIMJ and be done with it!! Hmmm, must be too simple...anyway, I think you're spot on in keeping all the doors ajar. We can't all...

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@pauseliveaction ...be catered for, so the site that floats your wee boat, should be the winner. Easy, eh?!? ;-D

5 years, 4 months ago

pauseliveaction

Aha. I wondered if you were in disguise ;)

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@pauseliveaction Haha. I'm sneaky like that... ;-D

Sylvestrian

I didn't know but do like this dying embers jam. I'm with you about Let's Loop, favor the Jukey, and haven't decided about Nusiki. Thanks, @pauseliveaction, for helping me find our friend on the Jukey.

5 years, 4 months ago

ErnieBilko

Aptly apt in it's aptness.... Hahaha your script would have certainly discouraged many a young whippersnapper, I'm almost considering unfollowing you meself :-D

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@Sylvestrian Stevo! Glad you enjoyed my sneaky lil' Ash number. NewSpew is a wee conundrum. Had The Jukey not turned up, I'd be plying ma' trade there, but with very little enthusiasm. Loop...bah. SuzySue @pauseliveaction got my secret identity outta' me...she should be in the Secret Services, that one... ;-D See ya' over there sport, when the floodlights are turned off, here... :-D

5 years, 4 months ago

ErnieBilko

Good song and I like the slightly vulnerable vocal...

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@ErnieBilko Haha. Ithangu. You cannot Unfollow me...you are ancient, a curmudgeon and you lurve prog...deal with it... ;-D

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@ErnieBilko Yeh, I was saying to Hezza @heatherrings that the vocal was not up to the usual Martin Turner/Andy Powell, Ash standards. However, I think you make an excellent point there and on reflection, the fragility of the lead was either planned inspiration, or a fluke. Either way, I didn't truly think about it and bought into their later 70s adjusted sound...

ErnieBilko

@21schizoid Sometimes the truth hurts :-)

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@ErnieBilko Ouch... ;-D

donuno

Great chunter diatribe as usual... Likewise my choice of new jamming place is pending reports....

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@donuno Thank 'ee sir! Try 'em all. Feel the non-lurve. Take the best of a non-TIMJ bunch. Vote Jukey...I think... ;-D

@21schizoid I'm stuck in a caravan at Whitby waiting for people to get up, useless Internet and the radio only tunes into Smooth FM. It may surprise you to learn I don't have a computer of any kind, even at home so I still can't play your chosen tunage. I did however see Wishbone Ash once at the Flowerpot pub in Derby. Long story but to cut it short, her bloke had dumped her, she got off with the taxi driver on the way there and so.......

5 years, 4 months ago

ulittletwit

@21schizoid I thought 'sod it' and went on my own. I quite liked it and the people at the gig were all really friendly and nice even though I was the odd nut in the bag

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@ulittletwit Hahaha. Brilliant stuff. Caravan in Whitby...makes me feel better about being on a day trip to North Korea. I do believe I've had the odd night or two out, not entirely dissimilar to that. Ended well though and us Ash types...what are we like...so luvverly... ;-D

lindatee

Ah the heady days in this fine ja land will soon be fat an end. At the moment I'm everywhere and nowhere baby. Probably end up at the alter of God's jukebox. I might have already found you there, I would miss your witty repartee if that wasn't the case.

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@lindatee Yes Jeanie, I believe we have encountered one another on Da' Jukesta'. It's been rather confusing lately, with all this scrambling around for TIMJ2. It's the only (relatively) sane option at this moment (for me, anyhoo) and I can't survive in that foreign land, without a fellow 'Scot', which I am officially declaring you as, from this very moment!! :-D

5 years, 4 months ago

mikelowe

I wasn't expecting such a "catchy" little song from these guys - almost Byrdesque, which can only be a very good thing. I've never really listened to much of them - I was expecting endless twin guitar solos!!!! :-)

5 years, 4 months ago

21schizoid

@mikelowe ...and that would have been a decent expectation. However, as I was mumbling on about at the start of my dirge, the chaps were going through that "ok, where the hell do we go from here, now that punk has emerged" sorta' thang. Quite a lot of rock/prog bands from that early to mid-70s period, were reinventing their sound...not all with great success...
