I've been listening this week, almost without pause, to Armed Forces, the third album by Elvis Costello and The Attractions. I've had enough of the mediocre bands from my past who have been cluttering my ears, my head and my shelf space. If I want to enjoy a blast from my past, there is no other artist or band who bests Elvis Costello and The Attractions.
EC's first few albums still stand up so well, and stand up to any artist's early output. really, how many artists give us more than 1 great album? EC in my mind gave us at least 3 (This Year's Model, Armed Forces, Imperial Bedroom)
@TragicBeauty I agree with your choices and I'd add King of America onto that list. Regardless, I've not been spending enough time with his back catalog (I'm guessing it has been over a decade since I've spun any of these albums). Perhaps subconsciously I'm doing my homework before his autobiography is released in October or November!
Wait a minute! How did I leave My Aim Is True of that list?
Like @AheadByEcho, there is nothing like Costello & the Attractions when I want a fulfilling blast from my past. In the list of unimpeachable albums I'd put My Aim Is True, This Years Model, Armed Forces, Get Happy!!, Taking Liberties (comp though it is), Trust, Imperial Bedroom, and King of America. Hell, I even have a very soft spot for Punch the Clock. As for this Jam, it is always a pleasure to hear.
