Hard to believe this was recorded as long ago as '98. Really wanted to jam Contradictive from Juxtapose, but it seems to be one of those you just can't use. Serendipitous in the end - I'd forgotten how much I love this.
my all time No. 1 Tricky tune. I saw him DJ (around the time this came out) in Oxford. He was stoned off his gourd and his skillz were non-existent. when a record finished he took it off, rummaged around for another (sheer minutes of silence) and then picked another, sometimes changing his mind halfway through. He got booed at after 20 minutes and abandonded the set after that.
The sound of Martina Topley-Bird's voice takes me straight back to the early nineties, which I mostly spent off my tits hugging complete strangers whilst wearing atrocious clothing. Those were the days!
Ooh, I remember that season of "Sessions at West 54th" that Chris Douridas hosted (from which this video is culled). That was my introduction to Tricky, TIndersticks, and a number of other bands.
@7r0773r I didn't know about those sessions at all - it was only through looking through the available videos that I discovered it. Shame there aren't more Tricky tracks to choose from. So to speak.
