I went looking for information on them. The only place I could find quickly was All Music. There is only a paragraph. http://www.allmusic.com/artist/hall-negro-quartette-mn0001273065/biography At the time producers would take annonymous black men, make a group, then send them uptown to perform spirituals and work songs for white people in dance halls and, sometimes, more respectable places. This is one of the groups that managed to get recorded for radio.
@Avante thanks for sharing...the word is still used in historical reference in major league baseball when referring to the accomplishments in the negro leagues...just yesterday i was reading about one of my favorite players in history, Satchel Paige...he was the only negro league player to pitch in the world series...he was a 'rookie' at the age of 42...here is a small doc about him https://youtu.be/TA3TLzWAOE0@vorbis thanks for the link
there is also a non profit organization that is locating all of the former negro league players gravesites since many of these players have unfortunately been forgotten
louis gosset jr played satchel paige in this flick http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082277/combined
@Mercurywaxing I sometimes go looking for these old songs, lots of the time with dissapointment.. But it's getting better throughout the years. A real treasure when you find something good. So I'm very thankful for the link. :D

I've noticed a rash of 30-second clips from YT lately. It's frustrating. Wonderful choice here.
