I have always loved Jon Anderson's voice, less so the lyrical content of the songs although they always sounded like they meant something even if the words on the page left me a bit cold. To be honest, I prefer their earlier albums and I have a bit of a problem with Rick Wakeman's keyboard pyrotechnics.

Not really listened to Yes for a long time although they were my favorite prog rock band and I saw them live a few times from The Yes Album through Close to The Edge right though to Tales Of Topographic Oceans at which point I thought they had pretty much finally abandoned their audience.......

I recall having heard Yes on the radio as a kid (Roundabout, Seen All Good People, Heart of the Sunrise) and bought the cassette of Close to the Edge without having a clue what I was in for. 20 minutes later, when I had finished side one, I wasn't sure what I had just experienced but I was hooked. Siberian Khatru remains my favorite Yes tune but CttE is surely their masterpiece.

@Axol I understand that the lyrics for CttE were written for their tonal qualities much more so than for any greater meaning. Jon was creating moods with the chosen word-sounds.

@Frogshackle I agree about the lyrics @ada23 Jon Anderson's voice is great! @Sid_Bonkers The Yes Album indeed. Yours is no disgrace probably my favourite song of theirs. @florencevibert @rvnikodem thanks for your comments on "Close to the Edge" by Yes. Always welcome!
