Adam Ant. Inventive. Unique. A crucial part of British music history. He's back with a new band. He always seemed more at home with a rootsy acoustic sound, one that could be moulded to raw human expression, the vibrant Burundi-style drum sound being the most obvious sonic element that sticks in the mind. Here he is at an old music hall in Hoxton with his current band. His delight in all things 18th Century has not left him and his vocal expression is as free as ever. I like this single for digging into his take on a Tennessee vibe with a hint of edginess which suggests this band set up rather suits him. I like the fact they chose something so eased in pace as a single. It's certainly one of the most accomplished songs on the whole album if you listen to it all & I can't help but like the mixing of historical style throughout the video. The man's got very singular flair, always appreciated it. This is a healthy, solid single that lets us continue to see what he's always been about.
