@simonp The guitarist is Steve Vai, I think. The new album features the likes of Rick Wakeman, Ray Manzarek and Zoot Horn Rollo from the Magic Band. It may turn out to be the single greatest long-player ever in the all-time history of just about everything.
@simonp Pffft. The man is an auter, a prophet, a visionary. His creative genius places him above mere mortals like ourselves. It will be a work of singular magnificence and beauty....
@Brownpants@simonp @Boosup1 @Niels_Footman I think I am the president of his fan club...I think he is OUT THERE and I hope I have that energy when I am 82 also!!!! ;)
@Niels_Footman I remember hearing his version of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds and thinking it was the most brilliant thing I'd ever heard. I bought a vinyl copy of his Transformed Man album and it's just brilliant. I love his version of Common People too (which I think @natyblooming has jammed).
@Brownpants, I had a similarly out-of-body experience watching Rocket Man. What *was* he doing? What *were* the audience thinking? What *the hell* was going on in the 70s?

I'm wary at Liking this. The risk of encouraging him is too great. Do you know who the band is?
Brownpants
@simonp I think an artistic talent of his stature should be actively encouraged at every possible opportunity...

My whole life can be divided into two distinct phases: before I saw William Shatner's rendition of Rocket Man, and after

@Niels_Footman I'm tempted to say 'it must have been the drugs' but I don't think Shatner's ever needed them. He's just permanently 'out there'.
