I was thinking how much that video made me think of Bruce Weber, and lo and behold...

This band kept The Pogues from Christmas No. 1. For that, they shall never be excused...

yummy video, I wish I had been alive in the 1930s (or 1920s really much more my style if I were invited to parties). I also wish I had been around in the 1980s and 90s as far as getting invited to parties with beautiful people and retrochic-contemporary-pop music. I wasn't, But I'm dancing to this. Well, I am making up moves as I move from coffeemaker (machine, not personal slave) to desk. As grandma would have said. "Giros, os rapazes" Yes, aren't they? ;-)

I'm more on the side of the Pogues (nodding @lukeduggan2006) but as their songs go this was one of two I liked when they first came out. I'm up to way more than half a dozen now.

@jnsvalente Parties in the 80s were a response to the Thatcherite greed; so they were pretentiously self indulgent but with a sense of self deprecating irony.

@Bukowski You must have moved in different circles to me. Pretentiously self-indulgent meant putting your blue label Thunderbird in a glass.

@AlicejustMay At the parties I frequented in the 80s we put Vodka in a dog bowl.
