@psyclopstrees Indeed; one of the reasons that I posted this track is because it is difficult to acquire apart from in single format. The only studio version I know of appears on the compilation album; 'Crackle – The Best of Bauhaus'.
@lynn200 Sharks are my Room 101. But as we find in the contrast between '1984' and 'Brave New World' people can overcome fear but people cannot overcome contentment.
@Bukowski Oooo yes, with Mussorgsky's 'Night on the Bare Mountain'. p.s I loved 'The Hunger' at the time but I don't think it would be your cup of tea. I think the hype was the cast, all very beautiful people. It is visually gorgeous but that is about it!
@abigail.deeks@Bukowski the roller skating scene with this as the underscore was amazing. I saw Bauhaus at Coachella in 2005 and it was mind blowing. Then Coldplay followed. The colliding fans were hilarious. Coldplay looked like they were loitering onstage after Bauhaus rocked the living shit out of the stage. Complete with real fog..YEEAAAHHH!!!!!

Great song. You bet me to it... this was on my future Jam list!
abigail.deeks
'Proper Goth' indeed, great choice! Ah the nostalgia :)
Bukowski
@abigail.deeks 'Black!' Lots and lots of black.
simonp
As so memorably used in the opening titles to The Hunger http://youtu.be/Ae7Ld_8Y6tE
Bukowski
@simonp Thank you for posting this. Major confession time (with huge embarrassment) I have never seen 'The Hunger'; it's on my to-do-list, honest guv.
simonp
@Bukowski wouldn't worry too much. It's a decent enough film but mainly of interest now for the over the top 80s stylings
Bukowski
@simonp Phew. That's ok then. I thought I was missing out on a classic.
psyclopstrees

Great to hear again - I'm still wearing lots of black - it's the way I roll!
simonp
@psyclopstrees @Bukowski I have it on the 1979-1983 Beggars Banquet compilation that came out in 85. First purchase with my student grant!
Bukowski
@simonp Indeed, but that compilation contains only the live version of 'Bela Lugosi's Dead'.
simonp
@Bukowski really? Well, there's something I didn't know about my record collection!
DiamondDog
the bat came down the stairs....
Bukowski
@simonp I have the same compilation (Volume 1 & Volume 2) and it's a live version on that.
HappyZebra
excellent track
abigail.deeks
@Bukowski and razor sharp cheek bones!
iHaydn
I love to play the 45rpm 12" vinyl at 33rpm, which makes it just that much darker!
Bukowski
@abigail.deeks Do you remember the Peter Murphy 'break the sound barrier' Maxell telly advert?
Bukowski
@GabrielPomerand Fair enough. Any pigeon hole in a storm.
Bukowski
@iHaydn Brilliant idea!
lynn200

@abigail.deeks @Bukowski I certainly do. He probably made more money out of the one shoot than he did with his entire musical career
AndyWilkinson
Must confess I was never much of a Bauhaus fan, but I do love this track.
allymac
Magnificent choice
Schell
i .e., 'transcends goth'
Bukowski
@Schell 'transcends goth'; I like that phrase, I shall be using that.

Love the song!

@CSC I saw them in 1982 (showing my age) and one could feel the tension between the band members; great gig.
CSC
@Bukowski that's the best. Usually boring if everyone is getting along.
UncannyUK
None more goth. I too have this as a Small Wonder 12". Anyone know where the amazing cinema still on the front of the sleeve comes from?
Bukowski
@UncannyUK 'The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari'
HarryMetcalfe
great stuff captain
Bukowski
@MrWormold I didn't. I don't get out much these days what with all this age stuff going on.
