From my favourite Clash album.

@BertrandRustles Ooo, controversial opinion, I like it. I decided to give it a 'spin' last weekend as I hadn't played it for years given that my visits to The Clash file usually results in either 'London Calling' or 'Sandinista!' being played. I found it to be an absolutely tremendous and hugely underrated album.

@Bukowski One of my favourite bands and one that has been very influential in my life. I love everything but it felt to me that GEER was the moment when all of that early promise came real. One of life's perfect musical moments for me.

@njparry @UncannyUK @BertrandRustles @An_Irish_Brit @lindatee Is it me or is it the case that if The Clash had omitted Sides 5 & 6 'Sandinista!' would be one of the all time classic albums?

@Bukowski Agree that a double or even single would have been powerful stuff. Sandinista as a whole was over the top self indulgence but, as it made a valuable point in it's special pricing at the time, I forgave them for it quickly and easily :) All other Clash albums I can play all the way through with glee, that one, I pick and choose my tracks #GEER

@BertrandRustles I play sides 1 - 4 of 'Sandinista!' more often than I play 'London Calling'; I think that it is such a wonderful progression.

@Bukowski @BertrandRustles I'm even enjoying sides 5 &6 of Sandinista more as the years go by.

Bukowski

@invernessred I was going to mention that I think I ought to apply myself a little more to Sides 5 & 6.

Don't let those who "think" they know tell you that 'London Calling' is the best Clash album. It's actually the THIRD best, after this one and the debut album. Safe European Home - what a start, followed by English Civil War and Tommy Gun. Ism there a better opening triumvirate?

Hell yes, love this album

PhilPhil

@BertrandRustles I take it that doesn't include Cut The Crap

BertrandRustles

@PhilPhil Ha. Maybe you have me there :) Although This Is England is HIGH on my favourite Clash tracks list.

@RigidDigit With you on this.

PhilPhil

@BertrandRustles yea I know what you mean - I wish there was a cut Strummer had mastered

@RigidDigit Wonderfully put but we shall have to agree to disagree on this one. Whilst the opening triumvirate of 'Give 'Em Enough Rope' is spectacular it does taper off whereas, in my opinion, 'London Calling' is consistently classic throughout. My second favourite album by The Clash would be 'Sandinista!' as I find the first album a little 'naïve'.

The Clash certainly knew how to open an album. I would have to go for London Calling as my favourite Clash album. Give 'em Enough Rope is a great album though and it does contain some of their best tracks, particularly the opening 3 and "Stay Free". I also love Sandinista sides 5 & 6 included.
