"Dead Air" applies the sound that they cultivated on "The Bones Of What You Believe" to the world of The Hunger Games to excellent effect, crafting lyrics that befit the source material yet stand on their own, a hook that can be lodged in one's brain for days, and a soaring, anthemic chorus where Lauren Mayberry's vocals sound like a thousand fists punching the air in an outburst of unrestrained emotion.
