Firstly a big THANKS to everyone who supported my #BoJam week of Bo Diddley jams.... OK back to my usual Friday & Monday turnarounds with Tommy Johnson's eerie falsetto voice singing "Big Road Blues". To enhance his fame, Johnson cultivated a sinister persona. According to his brother LeDell, he claimed to have sold his soul to the devil in exchange for his mastery of the guitar. This story was later also associated with Robert Johnson, to whom Tommy Johnson was unrelated. Tommy Johnson also played tricks with his guitar, playing it between his legs and behind his head, and throwing it in the air while playing. He wrote "Canned Heat Blues" from which Canned Heat took their name and todays jam "Big Road Blues" is said to have been the inspiration for their biggest hits "On The Road Again". 1928. Jammed this before - worth another one - stone-cold classic and very influential.   3
