"If You Go Away" is an adaptation of the 1959 Jacques Brel song
"Ne me quitte pas" with English lyrics by Rod McKuen.
It is considered a pop standard and has been recorded by many
famous artists over the years.
*** THIS VERSION ***
Singer : Amy Vanessa Burvall (a.k.a "Mrs. B").
Released : 2012 (uploaded to Soundcloud).
Amy Burvall is a (still) relatively unknown TOK / history teacher and
"amateur singer" (ha!) from Hawaii.
About this song, in her own modest words:
"Totally random test I did a while back trying to see if I could record with
a Snowball mic at school (listen close and you'll hear the school bell).
Really off on my timing but did it in one take".
To that I can only say one thing: WOW!
I asked Mrs. B which artist inspired her to do her own cover version of this
beautiful song, and she said it was Cyndi Lauper.
So therefore I chose to give joint credit to Cyndi in the headline of this Jam,
instead of the original artists and creators.
Mrs. B has done both covers and remakes of many other popular old songs.
The remakes (with new lyrics) are all about interesting and educational historical
events, originally made to "make school more fun" for her students.
She also loves to dress up and perform in vintage clothing and big wigs,
so many of the songs have been filmed by her colleague and co-writer
Mr. Herb Mahelona. He is also a teacher, with an interest in film and music,
and member of the Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra.
And this song, SHE simply OWNS! And, at 100.00000%. It has never been, and will never be, sung better. C’est Donc Impossible! -Napoleon! (If SHE reads this, I will be exiled to Elba!)

I could listen to this VOICE, singing this song, a thousand times. If only SHE would sing a few more real songs like this...

This song, and "Dream a Little Dream Cover", are so awesome, that I cry each time I hear them. That is how much her voice penetrates my psyche. See: https://soundcloud.com/historyteacherz/dreamalittledreamcover
