I fell in love with Good Kid m.A.A.d City and it actually reminded me of Outkast at times, like the flow and spaced out sound of "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe". My first thought here was that he was going for a Pharrell "Happy" uplifting thing with a Black Eyed Peas sound, but I like it and there's more to it than that. And the funny thing is it comes back to Outkast when the beat changes up after the 3:00 mark. Very "Wheelz of Steel"-esque bassline: http://youtu.be/_ZLbC-xiPiI I do dig it though.

@shiningsun2k Ah! You're so right. I hadn't made that connection at first. I love how you break it down.

Haha I listened to a LOT of Outkast in the '90s and early 2000s and I listen to a ton of music in general, so I'm always making comparisons like that since I lack technical vocabulary. It's how my mind works. By the way, I read your blog (or was it an interview?) where you said TIMJ will predict what songs or artists are going to blow up and you're so right. You got more detailed with it, but I've seen enough that I KNOW an artist is going to be big when I see it getting a lot of attention here.

It's the big song of the summer released in autumn! A little Curtis Mayfield, a bit Outcast. I... can't figure out whether I like it or not. Been over it a few times now and I think it's growing on me.

god, though, that Isley Brothers sample just feels so... obvious (not to mention expensive)?
