The year got going with “Afo KunfFu Beat” by Tony Allen, and 13 more jams followed. There was a lot of electronic, Nigerian music, and African music. John_the_Monkey found a rare one: “Ijo Soul” by Orlando Julius. People really liked “In the Midnight Hour” by B.B. King & Friends. John_the_Monkey’s final jam was “I Thank You” by Sam & Dave.

2014

John_the_Monkey’s first jam of 2014 was “Roobarb Opening Theme” by Johnny Hawksworth. 28 more jams followed it! It was a year of instrumental, electronic, and idm. John_the_Monkey posted a rare gem: “La Marche des Smith” by Les Freres Smith. “Sweet Home Chicago” by Freddie King got a lot of love. John_the_Monkey’s 2014 came to a close with “The Christmas Song” by Dexter Gordon.

2013

John_the_Monkey’s year started strong with “Erlangen Polka” by Cults Percussion Ensemble, and the jams kept coming; 39 in total. Lots of jazz, hip hop, and soul. John_the_Monkey found a rare one: “Stay Loose” by Jimmy Smith. People really liked “Love Rollercoaster” by Ohio Players. In November, John_the_Monkey posted their 100th jam. “Santa's Got A Bag Of Soul” by The Soul Saints Orchestra closed out the year.

2012

In March, John_the_Monkey joined This Is My Jam, and kicked things off with “Bagpuss the Elephant” by Bagpuss out of off of Bagpuss. Nice. In May, John_the_Monkey found it, their eternal jam: “Holiday In Cambodia” by The Dead Kennedys. Plenty of Dead Kennedys, funk, and punk. They were the first, and only, to post “Batman” by Washington Dead Cats. John_the_Monkey was first to pick “Guns of Brixton” by Jimmy Cliff, in April — 13 others followed suit! John_the_Monkey passed 50 jams in July. 2012 drew to a close with “'Zat You, Santa Claus?” by Louis Armstrong.
