Tonight all my friends are strangers

'Crooked Rain' turned 20 last week, which means it's been ten years since I first heard this song as part of some music blog's post on the album's tenth anniversary (it was packaged with the deluxe reissue, and happened to be the first Pavement song I'd ever heard). I remember playing this over and over on my little 256mb Creative Labs mp3 player, alone at recess at first and then on the bus to/from high school etc. This was definitely one of the first songs I fell in love with as I started developing a taste for music and seeking it out on my own, and it was around that time, end of Grade 8, that that sort of became a thing for me from there on out. So, plus or minus a few weeks, happy tenth anniversary of me being me.   1
