I have been mentally steeling myself for this, a final jam, all week. By chance or circumstance, this website has come to mean a lot to me in the last few years. Selecting a weekly Jam became a matter of refocus, to take stock of what I was listening to and what I was loving, and to introduce me to something new when my inspiration was low. Such a wonderfully basic and creative enterprise should not have succumbed to the banality of internet censorship and petty squabbles of ownership and availability. Good music is good music, and this was the best instance of communal sharing I've known. Choosing one last Jam was difficult, but this won out. It won by not being my favourite song of all time, but by the first and best amazing example of this website's powers. It was just another wet, damp winter night, years ago, and I was scrolling through the Jams of my followers, and this came on, Madeleine Chartrand's ANI-KUNI, a song I'd obviously never heard before, and...   2
