Prince has a great song there. But here is another version, audio only. Please go listen an angelic voice outdo Prince.... https://www.thisismyjam.com/Engztrom
Prince, the famous musical composer/singer, wrote "Cream" more than 20 years ago.
(He made 50 cents from it!)
A few years ago singing history teacher Amy V Burvall paid him great homage, and remixed this song into a video about the tragic story of the 9 day English Queen
Lady Jane Grey.
And it was all done for educational purposes, under the "Creative Commons" license!
So there once was a great educational video to this remixed song, available for everyone to watch on YouTube...
But, unlike Mrs. B, Mr. Prince isn't the sharing type (not even for educational and non-profit purposes) so he blocked the video on YouTube and other sites!
(An audio-only copy still exists on SoundCloud, which this jam is referring to).
https://www.thisismyjam.com/Engztrom
Mr. Prince, if you read this, please unblock the YouTube video, and be a hero to millions of students of history!
It won't compete with your "Cream!" (If anything, it will promote it...)
Friends, I really would appreciate it if you went and listened to my compatriot Mr. Engstrom's audio only jam. Thanks!
https://www.thisismyjam.com/Engztrom
@Bukowski He is very talented. I just wish he were more generous, especially with regards to educational fair use. I had never paid attention to him before Mrs.B remixed his song. I was going to actually buy a Cd. Then he blocked the video. So he lost a sale. But I am sure he can survive it.
Great song, of course (Prince brought me to synths in the 80s), but your bg-info is even more stunning: I do not know much about the working musician Prince. But when he drifted off to be TAFKAP, i wondered if there is a reason for this: Being such a productive musician and composer he probably was one of the last musicians who had these ugly contracts (like George Michael) and got a little paranoid over that
@azche24 When the net first came out, he was very pro-net. Then he started changing to be very anti-net. Maybe you are right about those contracts. But it is not like he is suffering. I can see his blocking is own music... But an educational parody video that would only bring him fans? He's got something against Youtube. I'd love to write him a letter and get him to lighten up a bit. Sigh.
@21schizoid I have not denigrated the awesome gift of his talent. But he must have learned from someone when he was young! Someone must have shared with him! Yet, today, he seems adverse to it. I wish he could see how people try to honour him, and respond in like fashion.
@PeteLaberge On the contrary Pete, I believe you are a very understanding fellow. Y'see I'm from Glasgow and we don't have the patience to tolerate wee goons like that, so we'd just tell him to get over it and on with it...or words to that effect, with added vernacular venom... ;-D
@21schizoid Well, you know how self effacing we Canucks are. I think we need to import a few more lads from Glasgow, to improve things here.... Altho, I can imagine the language. I've had Scottish and Irish uncles. And I once had a Scottish boss, who "knew his way around the English language"... He could be as sweet as a courtier, or, he could make angels faint.
@PeteLaberge Haha. I like the sound of that boss fella. Surely a Glaswegian (Weegie). Y'know Pete, Glasgow and Edinburgh are only some 50 miles apart, but in terms of the original denizens, it could be 50 light years. Edinburgh is aesthetically more pleasing for sure, but if you want friendly (most of the time) people who call a spade exactly what it is, Glasgow wins every time. That's why I like (most) of my fellow Weegies...y'know where you stand...no maybes... :-D
@PeteLaberge ...in fact, I worked with two rather modest Canucks back in the day, who were both popular and got on famously in The Second City of the Empire. So Pete, if you're visiting at any point, tell 'em Pepe B says "yer a'rite pal"...well, maybe not... ;-)
@21schizoid Brian's grandfather came here from the old country, if i have things right... I never asked from which part, because well, it never came up. I do know he is as Scottish as Canadian Tire Icon Sandy McTire, when it comes to money, but he can also be as generous as can be. .....
@azche24@21schizoid@PeteLaberge
The sad thing is that he would probably gain from letting Mrs. B use his tune, not lose!
She has covered many other great songs from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's, and introduced them to a whole new generation, and they will (of course) be curious about the original artists and songs as well, artists and songs they never heard of before!
(In my eyes, it is a win-win situation!)
@azche24@21schizoid@PeteLaberge
And isn't it strange that this version of "Cream" isn't blocked on YouTube, while Mrs. B's version is?
Well, perhaps TAFKAP's record company handles all the blocking and copyright issues, and doesn't inform him of any details...
(I like to think he would have made an exception for Mrs. B's creative talent, if only he had watched it with his own eyes, and heard it with his own ears!)
@Engztrom I had to look a while to find one. I read someplace he hates copy cats and parodies of his work. Finds it offensive to his artistic merits. OH BROTHER! Mans need to be given a dose of lighten up pills. Anyway, pure talent, but no good at sharing.

@itskerryc We shall fight them on the beaches.... We shall never surrender... We shall fight on from Sweden, and from Canada! And in the end, our intent is to someday, retake that which was taken from our Princess....
