@alisonsghost I've checked, and there's no-one called Cyril currently working at the OS, more's the pity! Sweet Baboo is from Cardiff, but he's playing at the Joiners on Monday, hence the jam. If he was from the IoW, he'd probably sing about mackerel, as The Solent is full of it.
@Rocklobster Doubly sadly neither my Uncle nor the OS are where they once were. He used to cover large parts of the country on a motorbike and had a lot of (seriously) interesting mapping stories to tell. As far as I'm concerned the romance of the names on maps cannot be underestimated........I'm surprised that any fish manage to dodge the shipping in the Solent. Wales makes sense. Have a good time at The Joiners :)

Trig points! The fact that my Uncle Cyril used to work for them in Southampton! Contour markings and field names............I love maps.

'I'm fed up of writing songs of sea bass and heartbreak', so true. Is he from the Isle of Wight? Anyway, good jam.
