Well you know it's an instant like from me :) The video is interesting as Lene's outfits are postively restrained compared to her usual "explosion in a charity shop" look.
@Astromonkey astro baby ,,did you have anything to do with stiff records or mike sinclair...they were involved with lene' around this time,,,,,,,i was a mere stripling ,but remember being impressed with her lone wolf style....
@Astromonkey That's indeed funny, don't tell me it's the other way around ;) Apparently she had three hits here, "Lucky Numbers", "Bird Song" and "Say When". I just liked the song I jammed best (for now). She seems to me an extravagant woman trying to get some image / attention.
@Salvadore ....sal she was great fun,,,,,,,, get in a car and road trip with ya pals and sing along with ''my lucky numbers one'' ,,,,,,,you will go crazy in a good way ....
@kingofmen No, I was 15 when this came out, I'm just a big fan of her. By the time this was released her relationship with Stiff had gone pretty sour - they wanted hits and cover versions. Doing this song was a compromise I think but she still had to fight to get the album released.
@Astromonkey ,,,yeah spot on ,,,,,stiff were a bit weird,,,,,thought she always got on well with mike sinclair though he was a stiff guy who did sound , and was always singing her praise,,,i buds with his younger brother , so used to get to hear all this stuff,,lene was one of those great one offs and i like that, good to hear this track again
@Salvadore Hmmm, that's a bit hard - I think her style is/was a genuine expression rather than something contrived to get attention - it was certainly influential - look at Cyndi Lauper and early Madonna.
@kingofmen They did the same with the Belle Stars but both them and Lene had their biggest hits with their own compositions. Lene is back touring again - saw her twice last year and seeing her again in April. She is 64 now and the voice isn't quite what it was but I love her.
@Astromonkey ,,that is so cool thank you for sharing that ,,,made me happy to know lene is still out there ,,,,the age thing seems to have fallen into insignificance now,,,, i mean LUDO VAN B aint done a lot lately but i still hear him on the radio and he still sounds great ,,,,,
@Salvadore@Astromonkey ...thats a good concise appraisal of lene , if it got attention ,,then great ,,,,, but really you had to have your mind open to the notion that this art was / is as relevant as anything else ,,,more so in many ways
@kingofmen Yes - while there is a big nostalgia market there are lots of people, like me, who are still interested in hearing new stuff from people who we first became interested in many years ago
True story. In 1990 I paid $7 to go see her at my local club, but my friend decided she wanted to do something else before she came on so we left. How insane was that? We were just familiar with "Supernature," which the club had been playing on and off. If I'd known that she sang so many other songs, I would have put my foot down a little more and stayed.
@bingsy22 In 1990 her more known success had already passed, so not strange you didn't know a lot about Lovich ... but you still remember the evening ... and in the other comments is said that she's touring again ... maybe you can catch up ;)

Also it's quite funny you chose this because she didn't write this one :)
