Welcome to Weird-Ass Wednesday! Tough decision this week. Came down to the Wilbury's, Skid Row, Drive-By Truckers and The Trampps! Well, in good time they'll all jam herein! The weirdness for this tune: Tweeter (possible transgender individual) and the Monkey Man are drug dealers on the lam. Monkey Man gets caught up with a woman and her cop brother who's always had it in for Monkey Man. An oft told story with nods to Bruce Springsteen and Tom Waits. Take care all and peace out...
Theme: Supergroups
The Traveling Wilburys were Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Jeff Lyne, and Tom Petty. They had 4 top 10 singles off "Volume 1." The story goes that they were all just hanging out together when Warner Brothers called Harrison asking for the b-side to a single. They decided to jam something out, which happened to be "Handle with Care." It was too good for a b-side, and they were having fun so they tossed together the rest of the album in just 10 days.
This song is the only single not to break the top 10. It's a spoof on Springsteen by Tom Petty and Bob Dylan. Many Springsteen titles (both popular and deep cuts) are used as lyrics.
