@Bukowski What are the other 4? I'm guessing you have stopped your swaggering now. I was 16 when this came out. Hmmmm. Snogging and lots of it! That is what this album makes me think of!
:\ Stone Roses are ...ok, overplayed.. but then most Mancunian rock music bores me stiff. FSOL & Autechre were from Manchester so... it's not all bad! I don't know, Oasis are just another band to me, nothing unique or anything that gets me about there music, same with Stone Roses..
@Bukowski I think it is timing as much as anything with my favourite R.E.M albums. 'Orange Crush' and 'Stand' were played every weekend at my local indie club when I was in my teens so lots of memories. 'Document' and 'Out of Time' hold lots too!
@Firebearer The Madchester scene was very exciting for a 15/16 year old me and I think this album is outstanding. Many artists are overplayed but it doesn't always make them overrated. I loved the first two Oasis albums but lost interest in them after that.
@abigail.deeks I am with you on R.E.M. Top Five Albums for me from the 80's 1) Depeche Mode - Some Great Reward 2) XTC -Oranges and Lemons 3) Oingo Boingo-Nothing to Fear 4) Police- Ghost in the Machine 5) R.E.M- Document.
@christineb 1) The Queen is Dead- The Smiths 2) Daydream Nation- Sonic Youth 3) Loveless- My Bloody Valentine 4) The Stone Roses- The Stone Roses 5) Green- R.E.M.
@abigail.deeks true... I don't dislike it, it's a good album it just doesn't amaze me like it does other people .. probably because of Manchester.. the city overdoes their music so badly, Oasis' first album was good and so was The Stone Roses debut but Manchester makes EVERY album both artists made seem like a revelation.. and to me they are just not! :\ I don't know.. 'Different strokes for different folks' I guess.. =)

@d0minic My Dad recommended 'Moonrise Kingdom' to me not so long ago. It looks like it has the same kind of quirkiness to it.

@Bukowski I would put 'Daydream Nation' and 'Loveless' at two and three and my R.E.M would be 'Green' x

@Bukowski I am with @abigail.deeks what are the other four? Great Jam thank you for the walk down memory lane
Bukowski
@abigail.deeks 'Daydream Nation' would be 6) and 'Loveless' would be 7). I have never really 'got on' with 'Green'; no idea why.
