When I finished my music degree in 1994 and then a year later trained to be a music teacher I didn't expect in 2013/2014 to be working as a waitress. Thank you Nicky Morgan for letting me know where I went wrong! Ba ba grump!!!

But you can hold your head up high and say you followed your deam and passion! The problem with employers today is that they insist on relevant recent experience which automatically penalises people who have chosen to take time out and put their families first. You have made the right choices and I'm sure with determination and perseverance you'll be back doing what you love x x

@MadameZia *big hugs* Thanks for that lovely. I know that everything you say is correct but am feeling very frustrated at the moment. I wasn't ashamed to be a waitress and some of it was fun but I have also been in very poor health because of how stressful and physically demanding it was. It is soul destroying to work so hard and not see anything at the end of it. My plan is to sign up with supply agencies so that I may be in with a chance of being back in a classroom in January x x

Sometimes you have to make that leap to move forward. Hopefully it won't take you long to find something more fulfilling and attuned to your skills. I wish you all the best.

@abigail.deeks as you say, Waiting tables is a noble artistic profession - just think of all those struggling Hollywood actors out in LA (literally) waiting for their big break and I know it's something that @TobyPrivateer can relate to as well. But, I can well imagine it's a thankless task sometimes. Well done for: a) not sitting on your arse waiting for something to happen and b) knowing when enough is enough. Stay strong Abi

Nicky Morgan would replace us all with robots. Let's hope that she gets replaced, soon. Best wishes xxx.

Nicky Morgan can go and fuck herself. Before my writing career took off, I waited tables for many years in various places. Really hard work, but it was sociable and lively and I loved it compared to the boring office jobs I'd done. All the best people have waited tables! Good luck, Abigail x

@abigail.deeks Don't know the ins and outs but bet you're doing the right thing. Am sending you all the bits of good luck I just dragged out from the back of the sofa cushions while looking for money... :) @davidovitch And worked in shops!!

@crawtonleek Thanks. Had put off going the supply route as I didn't think it would suit me not getting to know the kids but agencies seem to be having more permanent positions now. Fingers crossed!

@simonp Thanks for your support Simon it was the fear of 'sitting on my arse doing nothing' that got me working at the bakers. Have always supported myself financially and didn't like not bringing in any money into the house. Also missed seeing people and using my brain :) Miss teaching too, did it for 16 years before we moved!

@Axol I thought Gove was terrible but she just doesn't even seem to believe in what she is saying! My eldest son who although is a great mathematician leans heavily to the arts with his music and media studies when I said the same as you about turning us all into robots he said doesn't school do that anyway! That's my boy! So sad how much education has changed over the last 20 years and not for the better. Thanks for your support x x

@debutch My nearest and dearest quite strongly believe that I am too caring for the profession as it is now. I must admit I did struggle with how some of my colleagues in my last position had no consideration for the child's well being at all! Thanks for your kind words. I hope Kate's send off went ok :) x x

@davidovitch My sentiments exactly! Stupid woman!! My youngest son who has just started in year 7 at a school which is now an academy hasn't had Music, Art or Drama since he has started there which slightly puzzles me. There are termly plans for year 7 on their website? What sort of writing do you do? I did a foundation course in creative writing with the OU to keep me sane when I was first unemployed in 2011. Thanks for your support x x

@alisonsghost Thanks, I like the pulling out the sofa idea :) have worked in shops too and tried the crafting business from home idea. Just need to stick to my guns and get back into the classroom in whichever way I can. Thanks for your words of encouragement :) x x
