@AndyWilkinson after their early more experimental stuff they either completely lost their muse or cynically went for the money. If the latter, well hey they certainly succeeded. And ended up making some dreadful music. Belfast Child anyone?
@tomdwilly The X5 boxset is excellent. I saw them around New Gold Dream and they were excellent. A few years later I had the misfortune of seeing them again. I seem to remember the show started with Jim Kerr sitting on top of a really tall chair and being very pretentious.
I saw them when Sparkle In The Rain came out so very much on the cusp. It had some high points. Still prefer Sister Feelings / Sons & Fascination. Would confess to being totally unaware of anything after Sparkle.

Simple Minds were excellent in the early days. "Don't you Forget About Me" is where it all went wrong for me.

@AndyWilkinson Nice observation... and yes they certainly were! I know what you're sayin' Re: Don't you Forget About Me.

Anyone who even pretends to like music owes it to themselves to try out the X5 boxset (although it looks like it's got a bit more pricey...)
