@lucathequietone Apologies, I was in a rush and it was a slightly flippant comment, although Doves are hairy! You probably know this, but with their first album, they seemed to be unsure about whether to go down the so-called 'shoegaze' route; instead they chose rock and were successful. The press 1st invented this label, then used it to disparage the work of various bands. IMO a new tag is needed to replace shoegaze. Neither dreampop, nor noisepop etc suit a lot of these bands......
@Salvadore I really love it. But they don't seem to include either this or a similar song in their live sets. 'Lost Souls' is a good album. After that, I lost interest a bit.
@alisonsghost thanks for the explanation. I was aware of the 'shoegaze' tag, but still I was curious whether 'hairy' was to be referred to the genre or to Doves themselves..
@lucathequietone Sorry!! Very long-winded explanation of something you already know! There may be a 'hairy shoegaze' genre...I'm always laughing at things like that, only to find they are real :) Perhaps I just invented it :)
