I'm with you. It's got some real stinkers (Ob la Di Ob La Da, Revolution 9) but I love that it's so sprawling and diverse. It's also got some pretty damn fine songs on it.

Have you noticed that everyone seems to say it would have made a brilliant single album ? (Then they go on to say what choices should be on that album)

the first album that I bought for myself when I got my first record player - so I have a big soft spot for it - warts n' all. Another great choice in your wonderful list.

@AndyWilkinson @Maticubu @jackietheripper @Axol thanks for commenting/following my list @debutch yeah i've heard that before, for sure. i've even contemplated it myself, but i really wouldn't change a thing. @simonp haha right...

@debutch They're right it would have made a brilliant single album. However it wouldn't be as good as the brilliant double album that it already is. Does that make sense?

@AndyWilkinson It does make sense, actually! I didn't feel that way when I first heard it but the so-called "flaws & fillers" now seem an indispensable part of the whole work as the years have gone by.

Freshman year in college for me....I'd already seen them live in '64....Strange at first but it grew and what came after wasn't as good...Now, more on this are my favorites than from any one of the other albums...Leslie West's 1975 cover of Dear Prudence is a recent find and nice touch....

I always think of their last three albums as a whole, with all the stuff that went on in the background with the band in the forefront of my mind as I listen. White Album is Change, representing a bunch on individuals branching out. Let It Be is turmoil, those individuals clashing over their new found perspectives and Abbey Road is reconciliation, All of them realising its coming to an end, and striving to make one last masterpiece before going their separate ways.

@simonp @jackietheripper @Axol @Maticubu @bullfrog @debutch @AndyWilkinson i love the dialogue going on here. i was afraid that this jam, which could seem trite to some, might sap any momentum my list was building. instead, the album's familiarity served as a launch pad for some fun and interesting discussion. thanks to all of you for sharing your thoughts.
