I remember a concert from Long Island that got played on HBO back in the 80s. That's when I got hooked. Got to see Billy and Elton John play in San Diego back in the mid 90s, too. Such a great performer!

I must admit that I've never got that hooked, but I've always enjoyed a bit of Billy... After listening to this I'm thinking perhaps I should give him a further listen.. I liked it. :D

Agree with @Avante Nice one!..btw, I wish you didn't use that background. Billy's eyes there always used to give me nightmares....;-)

My mom loved him too, but I was hooked from the start. He's one of my all-time and earliest favorites and I can't even tell you what the first Billy Joel song I heard was, but I do remember 'Innocent Man' being the album I REALLY became familiar with him during. Probably because I was at an age where I could start retaining things better. Billy gets some flack for coming off shamelessly skeezy in the last ten years, and he has, but he's undeniably a phenomenal musician and great lyricist to boot

Also, I've always loved how down to earth he is. Have you heard his Milennium Concert double album recorded live at Madison Square Garden on New Year's Eve/Day '99/00? I bought the CD back when it came out even though I was against buying live albums back then 'cause I didn't like the sound quality as much and it is AWESOME. He's a great host and tells some good stories. I like when he ridicules those who paid an ungodly price for "golden circle" tickets saying it would take Jimi Hendrix....

coming back from the dead for him to justify spending that much for a concert ticket. :)

Also, I just watched the actual music video and I don't think I'd ever seen it in its entirety before. Definitely one of the better ones from early MTV.

@worfrat71 So envious of you having seen the Billy Joel/Elton John Piano Man tour back then. I've been wanting to ever since they started touring together, but I haven't been able to make it yet. The last one was a few years ago and I don't know if they have any more in them.

Oh girl, Billy Joel was a big deal in my family, so I was there in the Joel love from the start. Nice jam. :)

@worfrat71 I would have loved to see that! Tickets were insane by the time I got to checking them out, so I missed out. That was really a once in a life time opportunity

@shiningsun2k I haven't heard his Millennium Concert, I also try to stay away from live albums, but I will definitely check that out. I love how diverse your music tastes are, I would have never pegged you for a Billy Joel fan~ :)

Haha I'm a HUGE Billy Joel fan, but I can see how that could be a surprise. I'm uploading the concert album and I'll give you a link tomorrow if you're interested. It really is great.

Also, that pic of Billy Joel on your background has always reminded me of the Lou Ferrigno Incredible Hulk: http://img.poptower.com/pic-79390/lou-ferrigno.jpg?d=1024

@shiningsun2k sounds good! and I agree with your observation. Maybe that is why @debutch was scared?
