this is my favourite song by them for sure :) I was only 2 when Kurt died but I imagine how you felt since I cried when I found out about Robin Williams...
I remember that day (/night) I was watching MTV and ray cooks gave me the news.. Then they played "Come as You are". I probably wouldn't remember that bit if not for that it was a major screw up because of the lyrics "I swear that I don't have a gun".. And I saw it in a documentary later on... Very inappropriate... Anyhow, in school the day afterwards... people in tears, everybody was mourning. We couldn't believe it was true. A very strange day. :(
Love, love, love... A tragic loss to the world in some respects, but then the mighty Foos may never have come to the fore, can't wait to see Grohl and co. at Wembley Stadium in 2015!!!
Loved this track at first listen even though I was so Nirvana'd out when it hit the airwaves. What a great band and your remark about Dave on drums reminds me of an interview I saw with him recently in which he said he was an average drummer at best before Nirvana and he made it his mission to just go as crazy as he can on the drums so, if nothing else, his manic energy would capture the attention of prospective bandmates. :)
Here's my Non-Nirvana story....back in '89 I was living in Leeds, Yorkshire and saw that some American band that I knew of called 'Tad' were playing at a pub called the Duchess of York. I asked around if anyone wanted to go and see them but nobody did..so in the end I didn't bother going ...and watched videos instead that evening...The support band was a little known band called Nirvana....Oh well...c'est la vie...whatever happened to Tad?
Dave always took inspiration from my own drumming style....don't cha know?
Not such an incendiary performance as mine though:-

@philipnareike That is an amazing story, luck of the draw sometimes....or just straight up talented, right time right place... :) @mikelowe I thought I recognized his style.
@shiningsun2k@Avante Thank you two so much for sharing your stories.. it was a strange day..I am hoping to go up to Aberdeen next summer, they have a memorial park for him.
