@abigail.deeks We have to do a textual analysis of something postmodern, so I picked Regina (even though I'm not completely sure she is postmodern).
@thisismymistake I think I've ended up making myself a bit sick of listening to her for a while, lol.
@cjn22 I would find it difficult to decide in poular music what is postmodern. I think of minimalism and Glass and Nyman. I like your answer back to @thesunneversets. How are you getting on anyway?
@abigail.deeks It didn't have to be within music. I think picking music was my downfall, as it is one of the more difficult areas. Someone did do The Velvet Underground, but that links in with Andy Warhol etc. My initial thought was all the experimental stuff, John Cage always comes up, but I knew with that I'd just be out of my depth. Lol, I think that was the shortest answer I could give in reply. It was due in 45 minutes ago, and I handed it in over an hour ago. It is what it is :-s
"Yes and no. Sort of, but not really." Postmodernism in a nutshell!
I must say I wouldn't necessarily have pegged Regina Spektor as an *especially* postmodern performer.
@thesunneversets Yeah, I quickly realised that I didn't really think she was postmodern, but I'd made the fatal mistake of writing about something because I felt like I wanted to write about it. I then had to try to convince myself she is, and hopefully convince the lecturer in the process.
What would you say makes a postmodern musician/performer/artist/other?
@abigail.deeks Media Studies. After that essay I think I'm going to spend the rest of my life pretending postmodernism doesn't exist, or after the exam at least.
@lynn200 I'm glad you liked you first listen, I hope you will enjoy more of her music in the future.

@dutchzaphod Thank you! I've still got about 7 hours left, so I should hopefully finish in time.
