Love Tupelo, they is one of my fave band they is. Oh and I loves Elvis of course as we all must and tornados and envagelicals too of course

7 years, 8 months ago

RedStar

Love Elvis and big thanks for introducing me to Nick Cave with or without the bad seeds- Song links to Tupelo very sweet and melodic

Oh forgot to tell what I think of it: Elvis is God, not literally merely a Reincarnation of Jesus Christ but he is certainly one third of our Lord. Is. Not was.

May you have read a little too much into it? Unless Elvis and Nick were very into civil rights (Elvis wasn't - & Nick wasn't born so no need to feel guilt about it ). Or are we all born in the afterdays (as Kurt Weill put it best "Those yet to be born") in some way burdened w/responsable4 not having killed all nazis in our midst then or(much+difficuly a task)all current KKK members now? It certainlyt gave me much food 4 thought on how violent mankind is & how gentle nature (tornados&all)

big wow with my new earphones..enjoyed the energy,and yes atmospheric element of the band. twins in Asia are said to bring good luck to the community they are born into,add on the evangelical angle,and there you go....a god child is born. but not in superstitious Asia...in the USA...

@lindatee @corcorankelly Top track, but like Ms Lindatee I'd never tracked the lyrics too closely. Epic tale - did some looking and found this article by Mick Farren on this very song - http://dangerousminds.net/comments/rocknroll_as_spontaneous_paganism_mick_farren_on_nick_cave_elvis_and_the_de

@belaR Elvis would be very happy with that!

7 years, 8 months ago

corcorankelly

@EclecticEborens It's just what Nick wrote the song about.

7 years, 8 months ago

corcorankelly

@lynn200 Nice, Lynn! Glad you liked it. Insightful as always.

7 years, 8 months ago

corcorankelly

@Boosup1 No problem! Do you think it adds to the song? Knowing where it comes from?

7 years, 8 months ago

corcorankelly

@BarneyRubble Thanks for that. That is very cool, very interesting!

7 years, 8 months ago

arturo

@corcorankelly awsome man!

7 years, 8 months ago

bapk

I agree the song is about Elvis and has typical Nick Cave apocryphal/biblical references. And his best song is a close tie between Lime Tree Arbour and Brompton Oratory - or anything off The Boatman's call. Or Tupelo!

7 years, 8 months ago

corcorankelly

@arturo cool!

7 years, 8 months ago

corcorankelly

@bapk Those are all great tunes too, man! They have quite a few!

Cool jam! From the news out of Miss, I think Elvis needs to come back and lead them a little further.

@corcorankelly There have been two incidents of Miss teens in cars running down and killing black men in the last couple of years. Really wrong/disturbing/sad.
