My Top 10 Albums of All-Time ~ 6. The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground and Nico (1967) ~ The legend goes something like: hardly anybody bought this record when it came out, but everyone who did went on to form a rock and roll band; and while some bands inspired hordes of copycats, each song from VU & Nico spawned an entirely new sub-genre. I dunno about any of that, but this has to go down as one of the most stunning and fully realized debuts in rock history. Each song is its own mini masterpiece, brilliantly sequenced, defying genre, seeming to have no distinct reference point in history, as if appearing out of nowhere.   11

because when the smack begins to flow I really don't care anymore About all the Jim-Jim's in this town And all the politicians makin' crazy sounds And everybody puttin' everybody else down And all the dead bodies piled up in mounds

I have a habit of forgetting how good this is.

#ABCsOfMe 'V' is for ....Don't be silly!!....it HAS to be the "VELVETS" , right? This is probably their most famous/infamous song and I think.... dare I say this? ( looking over both shoulders & whispering )......that this live version from 1993 is better than the original from their classic debut album...( runs off & ducks for cover ) This video is from their Paris gig in their 1993 European reunion tour. I'll always think how lucky I was to see them in the London leg of this tour...the pinnacle of all my gig-going days...   24
