“Some songs have their own mood or groove. This certainly does. It was the early 90s and nothing else sounded like it. This was Summer Breeze meets Northern Soul! Although there was a heat wave in the UK when this came out, I remember hearing it trapped in a cliffside tavern near Javea in Spain one sultry sunset while waiting for the tide to turn. The sea magically sparkled and everything was from Salvador Dali's palette. I was the youngest of just three men among perhaps 30-40, absolutely gorgeous, lithesome, sunkissed and fun-loving, young local women, more-or-less, in bikinis. These girls turned this song up and danced like I can't tell you. While such things naturally stick in the mind of a young chap, with time the memories are usually packed away at the back. But every so often, when this song comes on the car radio, it all comes to the front of the mind. Then I turn it up and smile.”

I've chosen this as a small tribute to the great courage of the singer who still today nine years after he had two terrible strokes is fighting daily battles. He's been helped in no small way by his wife and manager Grace Maxwell. #HopeYouLikeIt 9
"You made me acknowledge the devil in me
I hope to god I'm talking metaphorically
Hope that I'm talking allegorically
Know that I'm talking 'bout the way I feel"
Ughhh, stone cold classic.
Early 60’s inspired lead guitar, Sex Pistol Paul Cook on Vibraphone, and backing rhythms that sounded like they had been recorded on technology from 30 years before, “A Girl Like You” is almost perfect right down to one of Collins best ever vocals.
