All things considered, her delivery is good, although unmistakeably English. Try listening to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9vJxCSnnQQ&feature=kp (in my opinion, Mina is one of the best female singers ever, and I’m not referring to Italian ones only). Pay attention to the chorus ‘Lasciarti non è possibile’ (‘Leaving you is not possible’). Then listen to the Roisin Murphy version. You may notice that Roisin almost does not pronounce the second ‘i’ of ‘possibile’.
It happens again when she sings ‘..incorreggibile’, making it sound like ‘..incorregiBLE’. Anyway, kudos to her: taking on those songs is a challenge not many could pull off, and not only for the inherent difficulty of singing in another language. The Mina ones are especially scary, from a singer point of view, so it’s no surprise that she declared that she actually got on the verge of tears trying to find the extremes of her voice.
