I've had this on repeat almost literally for like two hours, still loving it =D

dutchzaphod

@adamlack :)

robbfritz

more like the voice of Brendan Perry. but yeah, that chorus is um, kind of U2-like :)

7 years, 8 months ago

robbfritz

and I love it!

We always used to call Bono 'Bonio'...after the dog biscuit...it seemed funny at the time

7 years, 8 months ago

cutthelights

Hmm, not sure if I like the U2esque sound. Hopefully it will grow on me.

7 years, 8 months ago

puff

Not quite like Editors that I know, but it can pass.

7 years, 8 months ago

dutchzaphod

@puff @cutthelights They took me by surprise, but once I got my head round it I was over the moon! :)

ryanjhughes

'Sort of U2, but fortunately without the voice of Bono' has to be one of my favourite comments ever.

7 years, 8 months ago

dutchzaphod

@ryanjhughes Ta! :)

7 years, 8 months ago

mikesteer

I get some "Elbow" with a hint of "The Cult"....

7 years, 8 months ago

Caymanlogic

I'm hearing Echo & The Bunnymen crossed with The Mission.... what's not to like!

pabloldias

I used to hate Editors, but this song isn't bad at all! And even though I love U2, their influence in these bland rock bands is nefarious

sergiotm

Great song!

This has just played twice in a row for me, after @RW104. I'm with you on the U2 sound but without the over emoting of Bono. Kinda Interpol-ish too.

7 years, 8 months ago

rustynoodles

Wow this is a strange one! Like it but yes very U2ish in parts. Love the old Editors sound more but this is good & it's not always a bad thing to try a new direction.

7 years, 8 months ago

AlicejustMay

@mikesteer Yes, definitely some Cult in there...

7 years, 8 months ago

dutchzaphod

@adamlack @philipnareike @ryanjhughes @pabloidz @AlicejustMay @rustynoodles @simonp @Caymanlogic @mikesteer @robbfritz So far there are mentions of U2, The Cult, Zombies, The Left Banke, Love, Dead Can Dance, Elbow, Echo & The Bunnymen and Interpol. They must be doing something right! And, the more I hear it, the more I love it. :)

7 years, 8 months ago

philipnareike

@dutchzaphod They've finally thrown off their 'new Joy Division' shackles

7 years, 8 months ago

simonp

@words_are_wild Oh come now, they're not that bad...seriously though I see what you mean, esp the voice. Even if Simple Minds didn't do anything decent post-1983

7 years, 8 months ago

dutchzaphod

@simonp :)

7 years, 8 months ago

dutchzaphod

@marksatchwill I very much like mid-late 80 music. :) And to top it off it's sung by my favourite pop baritone. LOL

7 years, 8 months ago

simonp

Mmm, I think we may have to respectfully disagree on that one @words_are_wild. It's not that New Gold Dream was terrible, it just had all the signifiers of their later truly terrible pomposity

7 years, 8 months ago

dutchzaphod

@marksatchwill To each his own. :) It would be a very dull world indeed if everyone loved the same thing(s) LOL

7 years, 8 months ago

dutchzaphod

@words_are_wild @simonp @marksatchwill Point in case!

7 years, 8 months ago

the_kaiser

U2 was my first thought as well.

7 years, 8 months ago

Nuno

Not bad (prefer their earlier stuff though), thxs for sharing!

7 years, 8 months ago

redheadx

@dutchzaphod It's not your typical Editors sound...the intro could well be Echo & the Bunnymen and I agree with @robbfritz that Tom's voice sounds a bit like Brendan Perry's now and then. Anyway, this new song surprises me in a positive way :)

7 years, 8 months ago

lynn200

@mrsaudiodeluxe cheers, like a person who can take it!:)

7 years, 8 months ago

dgwise

@jcnporter, where's the decency in a ton of love? or maybe it was 15 or 20 groupies, that would explain it i guess...

7 years, 8 months ago

dutchzaphod

@dgwise :)

My first choice jam this week was also quite a departure and a bit U2, wouldn't let me have it though so I'll sneek it in here if you don't mind... http://youtu.be/dpiEaX4QYn8 Cheers, :-)

7 years, 8 months ago

dutchzaphod

@pocketbeatnik Not bad, not bad at all!

7 years, 8 months ago

AricPeterson

A band that never showed up on my radar. I'll have to give them a listen through something else besides my laptop.

7 years, 8 months ago

dutchzaphod

@AricPeterson Do let me know what you think of them. As you may have gathered opinions differ as to the change of style. It would be interestingto hear what a "fresh ear" has to say about it. :)

7 years, 8 months ago

Zucni

This sound is cool. I really should look into Editors.

7 years, 8 months ago

Axol

Good jam!

7 years, 8 months ago

PartyTearsFew

Yes especially with 'Desire' being the prominent lyric. I know not much of the Editors except that I know I liked one of theirs recently...... perhaps Papillon, need to find it again. So subjective the music world and all the better for it in my tiny opinion.

7 years, 8 months ago

terrytyson

This is really, really good, indeed.

7 years, 8 months ago

only1hawky

Thanks for sharing this as I wasn't even aware that they had a new single out. It seems that they're aiming for that big stadium sound. I just hope that they don't overdo it and bland out.

7 years, 8 months ago

alanbaillie

Great song!

7 years, 8 months ago

Hudahek_Izzy

Wow, super catchy. Best of theirs since 'Munich' in my opinion.

7 years, 8 months ago

dutchzaphod

@carl66 Echocultophonics! Nice word, I like it... :)

dangit, you posted it earlier xD great song indeed! ;)
