A singular vision. The first time I heard NIN, I knew Reznor had been influenced by this.

I think more bands should do songs based on J.G. Ballard books.

the handbrake line always makes me wanna barf. i guess its placement right before the pivotal line makes sense in that way. have you heard the electric eels' "accident"? "With my feet down through the floorboards, And my head up through the busted glass, With my face smashed against the dash, There's no attraction like a fatal crash" just to continue the cheery theme.

When I got this record I seriously think I played it 15 times in a row. I'm reading a book on British indie record labels and just got to the part where Daniel Miller said he walked into the Rough Trade Record store with a tape of this, asked them for advice, and when they heard it they gave him a distribution deal on the spot - which meant he had to form a label right away, which ended up being Mute Records.

I'll never forget the first time I heard this song. I was 17 and you know, it actually shocked me. It was right before the Slits on a mixtape a friend had given me and the Slits shocked me too. ;-) But then I wanted to hear it again and again. Hadn't heard it in years but damn if I didn't recognize it like 3 seconds in.
