I only knew this song from a cover version in the first place. Two girls from my town sang it beautifully at our local Songwriters Guild. Months later did I find out it was by Bruce Springsteen. I never liked the production and arrangement on his (original) version...
@roydesmet Same. I appreciated the lyrics more than Springsteen's arrangement, but grew to love it more as I heard it covered by different artists. I definitely (possible bias showing) think Marling's timbre adds something exquisite to this. I also feel like it perfectly shows he growth in terms of her own control of her voice.
