Just read the chapter on the amazing Sam Cooke in "Sweet Soul Music," by P. Guralnick. There are great versions by Otis and Al Green and Aretha of this, and I wish the arrangement here didn't lean so heavily on strings, but ... damn, what a voice and what a shame that he died so stupidly, "in a 3-dollar hotel driving a $14,000 car..."
