i read an interview a few years after it's release that she'd recorded 13 albums that Virgin shelved because they deemed them "uncommercial", but held her to her contract so she can't record for anyone else?
@bignonioides - I hadn't heard that and it seems a little unlikely on the face of it. But, seeing the interview I posted, I can see why she would be "challenging" to work with - Andy Partridge of XTC abandoned a project with her after one day, apparently.
:-) Andy can talk when Todd Rundgren broke him during Skylarking! well she had 4 years between recording and Miss America's release... there are lots of weird stories around her, I hope she writes a book at some point
