@kafkaesque - nice! I'm debating the drive up to LA to see them. I think they're playing with woven hand if i remember correctly..and jesus.. both of them would be fantastic. Saw Swans in a tiny club in florida and I agree with you.. totally overwhelming. Cheesy enough to say a spiritual experience was had.
I don't think spiritual is far-off. They have a kind of Dionysian, exhausting energy that aims towards the ecstatic. There were times during that show that I just had to shut my eyes and smile as it washed over me. I felt the same way when I saw Sigur Ros at the Greek a few years back, and GY!BE last time around.
@kafkaesque - thanks for not thinking me silly for feeling that way. I had to close my eyes during richard bishop.. but i think i wanted to see/feel everything going on between the guys on stage and how they reacted to the audience. Never heard of GY!BE before.. i'll have to go listen to some.
@kafkaesque - OH! Godspeed! YES! I can imagine their live act has to be a total sensory overload! and speaking of Sigur Ros, I had a friend who was so into them performing that he saw them every day for ,like, 4 nights in a row. Couldn't get enough of them. I've yet to see them..
