War Baby by Tom Robinson

Oops! Yesterday's Scotland/England contretemps, the former playing their trademark 'snatching defeat from the jaws of victory' card, reminded me of my own little footie cameo. I was a pretty decent amateur footballer, if I say so myself. Fast. Brave. Scored a few goals. One Saturday afternoon, I'm having a pretty good game, when disaster...I score a hat-trick. "Has he been at the sherry again?" I hear you ask. 3 goals notched. Disaster. How so? Well, two of them were in the wrong net. Post-match, I was feeling rather wretched, so buggered off on my own, to a small indie record store, to find this little number playing. I bought the single, took it home, lay on my bed and played it to infinity & beyond. My goals faux pas simply drifted into the ether. I don't own a single other piece of Tom's music. However, he's a fascinating, complex guy. I believe this is his musical masterpiece. It is very 80s, but none the worse for that. It's also very topical, but sadly, war always seems to be...   29

Off the cuff. Walked past a radio at work and instead of the normal pop pap, this was on. Probably an accident   3

My favourite Tom Robinson song. Quite difficult to find though but you can download it from his website.
