Crying, Waiting, Hoping by Wreckless Eric

“Gorgeous cover of the Buddy Holly song by the frequently-inebriated Eric Goulden, released on his second Stiff Records album in 1978. Holly’s original, recorded solo in his Greenwich Village apartment two months before his death, was subsequently lumbered with overdubs by his label and posthumously released (as the B-side of “Peggy Sue Got Married”) in the summer of 1959. Holly is of course unsurpassable in any form, but Eric’s version of the song is a better production.”
