I think Nick Hornby would have agreed with Bruce Springsteen when he was younger. He suggests he has 'grown out of' this type of "scary" art. At his age he doesn't want to be reminded in his leisure time that our way of life is threatened and always uncertain. He calls it terrifying and "shock art". I would say we still need a jolt sometimes, and 'Frankie Teardrop' still delivers it.
@gingercls I think you may be right, quite right in fact :^) @btener I think it has that quality too @rocknrollisking and funny, I never thought of it that way, I'll have to juxtapose the varying moods of each, one after the other ^^
