Not so. I believe I heard something of that kind from @rest_in_peace a few weeks or months ago. An Indian artiste died, as I recalled, and there was a tribute done.
@leejohnson probably was when Ravi Shankar passed a few months back. Lots of Ravi Shankar floating around then. Technically, there are two styles of Indian Classical music, Hindustani in northern India and Carnatic in the south. Ravi Shankar is more representative of the Hindustani tradition.
@leejohnson as explained to me by my Indian dear friend..Hindustani,the real name of India.Tamil upload is far S India.history has it tho,N/S I ndia two totally different histories,so yes,culture,climate,music....look at Kerala, the spirit dances of which i think Lee Johnson was referring. i do like to hear the sitar played E style, the fusion played by such musians as Prem Joshua....well...tourist imitation...good jam
@mlong3rdfl No, not Ravi, as he was more progressive. I've had a look back through his past Jams. There have been Sanat Sinha ('Akashvani' and 'Doordarshan' music), Sukhraj Aujla (Indian folk), Ramankutty Nair ('Kathakali'). So quite a list - you can check at http://thatwasmyjam.sharpshooterlabs.com/user/rest_in_peace/jams

like nothing else I've heard. Thanks for posting.

I think this the first Indian music I've heard on TIMJ. It's certainly the first jam of Carnatic music. Thanks.

I found this Jam on my LP shelf yesterday. I'd forgotten I had it, but I couldn't forget how incredibly beautiful it is.
