If you're like me, the only thing you've ever known about Nana Mouskouri is that she's that bespectacled singing lady from the tv commercials in your childhood. Lately, I've been working my way through as many of Quincy Jones's productions as I can manage, and this afternoon I got to 'The Girl From Greece Sings' from 1962. Holy baklavas! What a perfect album. Torrie Zito's orchestration, Q's production flourishes, Nana Mouskouri's voice and the song selections...all of it is spot on.
