Quick query, @ndreasa - is it possible to change the background to a jam once you've posted it without losing all the comments people have added? I was talking to @clickysounds about this on my page earlier...
Hey @AlicejustMay no you can't change your background once you've posted your jam. When we updated the jam style page we tried to tie the background closer to the jam, rather than it being a general Twitter-style profile background. You raise a good point though, for existing users who used to change their backgrounds between jams, we should do a better job of communicating how this has changed. /cc @clickysounds@Han@flaneur@_ralph
Thanks for that, @ndreasa - being a bit of tech twerp I wasn't sure. @clickysounds had suggested one of the new backgrounds you've introduced and I thought: ooh - I want to do that! Hence the ask. Appreciate you getting back to me so fast :)
@ndreasa when you "renew" a jam, does it give you the chance to restyle? (I haven't done that yet). That would be the other silly way right now. Jam something else, bounce into history and renew/restyle, then delete the something-else.
@clickysounds You can either choose to leave it looking exactly the way it looks, or go through the jam styling flow again. Either way your comments and likes are preserved.
@ndreasa@clickysounds Do you have to wait for the week to end before you renew (sorry if that's an obvious / stupid question)? And now I've seen it, I want it more! :)
@AlicejustMay I don't think so, it just needs to get bumped into your history before you can renew? @ndreasa One more while we are poking. Comments are "preserved", but only get shown again if it's renewed correct? I had the thought would be nice to grab a permalink to THIS jam in case the question came up again. But don't think it works like that right now. No linking to history jams or individual comments that I can see?
@AlicejustMay That all was in regards to my 2nd question. How can I link people to this conversation easily? It's not easy yet, i'm hoping Derek can make it easy.
@clickysounds Let me know how you get on - I'd really like to know too. There are some comments on other people's jams that would be useful to keep (references to certain tracks / tech stuff etc) without having to cut and paste and create some kind of document (which'd be a mare to manage anyway); and you can only keep stuff from your own page as far as I'm aware by filing notifications in an email folder.
@clickysounds@ndreasa having a jam 'archive' page with all of its associated comments sound like a great idea. I'll see what I can rustle up for thatwasmyjam

Beautiful jam from my favourite Ethiopiques album.

Mine, too @LadyGulag. Her music is indefinable: Classical? Traditional? Jazz? All I know is that it moves me.

This explains everything

This jam is not really fair for other jammers. Since I listened to this I've been searching YouTube for every possible song by Tsegué-Maryam Guebrou, thus ignoring all other jams. Sorry, guys, it's all @ndreasa's fault :)

molto legato, gorgeous and breathing tempo - great player wonderful pick!

Great jam, by the way.

@ndreasa got it. thanks. :-) At least it's possible with some effort then. :-)

@clickysounds @AlicejustMay Yes unfortunately you have to wait a few days, we show the renew link 24 hours before the jam expires.
clickysounds
@ndreasa Ahhh! the catch! ;-)
ndreasa
@clickysounds always a catch :) At the moment the only way to get comments from old jams is to use the API http://api.thisismyjam.com/1/jams/4waomm3/comments.json or use the wonderful thatwasmyjam http://thatwasmyjam.sharpshooterlabs.com/user/ndreasa/jams
clickysounds
ThatWas doesn't provide any "direct to jam" permalinks (that are obvious) either. :-( well except for the non-reader friendly API one: http://api.thisismyjam.com/1/jams/4waomm3/comments.json?key=987bcab01b929eb2c07877b224215c92

@derekahmedzai sweet, thanks. You are 90% there so figured ThatWas is an obvious place for it (for now). :-)
